Re: Verb's TA Thread
Nice work verb. I see you have been working hard on Tom William VSA analysis. I don't have the volume meter you are using there which makes the volume a lot more clear than what ZI have in MT4
. What you are working on here is very much where I want to see my future trading going...D1 analysis, few indicators, using PA and volume for entries etc. If you could post a zip/rar file with your indicators & template I would like to follow this and hopefully become a contributing member to this thread.

Re: Megadroid Pro
Great work guys.
I also think that if we want to see this bot run well we need to work equally as hard on finding a broker that doesn't spike spreads over the scalping hours. I am working now with spread tracker and developing a spreadsheet so I can record live spreads at different brokers over the times droid trades. Will test Alpari UK (my current broker) after they move to floating spreads and tadawulfx, and am interested to hear of any brokers that manage to keep spreads even if floating mostly below 3 especially for the supported pairs.
A great EA is no good on brokers with spreads that jump the times it is supposed to trade and no matter of backtesting can prepare for that.

Re: Megadroid Pro
hi, forexample, I remember you mentioned that you use FXDD data for your backtesting. You imported FXDD data into Alpari UK MT4. Should you use FXDD's GMT offset instead of Alpari UK's GMT offset? FXDD's broker time is one hour ahead of Alpari's.
I did this wrong before, and now I am just using FXDD data, and FXDD MT4 for backtesting.
Another finding regarding your test report: MD Multi should work exactly the same as MD pro on EURUSD. Why your backtesting result of these two EA are different?
Hi mike,
No I use Alpari Uk data. As to why they're different, I don't know. They are tested with the same spreads.
Recently though, with the varying spreads at Alpari, its hard to make reliable backtests as spread is so dependent. I am starting to look for different brokers to run Droid on and keep Alpari for Robominer and another hedger I use. Even if spreads are variable, the lower the better.

Re: Megadroid Pro
hi, forexample , you did great job! After I read your tables, I have a question. For example EURUSD GM+1 out performed GMT+2, but what if we compare GMT+1 with half year GMT+1(winter time) plus half year GMT+2(summber time)?
For USDJPY Logic 4, what GMT setting we should use? There is huge difference!
Thanks.
Thanks mike,
For your first question...this has been done before (somewhere in the other thread) and GMT+1 still performed better. On this pair I compromise and I trade half risk on GMT+1 and half on GMT+2. This means that for any trades that overlap on the hour inbetween (which doesn't always happen anyway) I'm trading with the risk I'm comfortable with. When Alpari UK goes back to GMT+1 I will just trade this window. I will trade EURUSD at twice the risk of the other pairs simply because the spread is better.
For USDJPY I don't feel comfortable using logic 4 as the difference is too big so I use MD Multi from the other thread.
I will now move on to other pairs and will repost when I finish.
Fact is though, Alpari's new spreads will kill most pairs.

Re: Megadroid Pro
here are my backtest results for the four main pairs and usdjpy comparing MD Multi and MDPro results over GMT1 & GMT2. all tests are from the same data at 90% quality tested using Alpari UK at spread of 1.8 for EURUSD & 3 for EURGBP & EURCHF and 3.8 for USDJPY. USDCHF I think was 4.
http://depositfiles.com/files/qyot52tmw
I have completed my old backtests using fixed lots so these are done using risk of 0.1 and aggressive and recovery on which is the way I trade them live.
Hope they help and I would appreciate any feedback on alternatives to the setups I have chosen.

Re: [Req] RoboMiner II v2.15 EA
i doont have settings like bool_gii only have
emergencyCloseAllTrades = false
display level=0
Allow spread = true
EquityPercentage= 101.5
doTrades= true
Balance Factor = 0
Lots = 0
are these settings for FXDD 500$ account ok?
NO. You need at least 2000 to trade this safely. If you do it this way only turn it on when AUDNZD is near the top of the range.

Re: [Req] RoboMiner II v2.15 EA
Check the robominer thread i posted the uneducated version there maybe its been taught.

Re: ROBOMINER
I just got closed 3 position with over --$1100 in loses in demo money. margin call. I'm using a demo with $3500 balance and 0.1 lot sizes. EA decided to enter eurchf with 1.0 lot sizes, so the positions got closed today as of the sudden drop.
Must be 0.01 lots per $2000 if on one pair or $3500 if two pairs. Something is very wrong with your settings.

Re: Megadroid Pro
the only currency this works well on is EURCHF and EURUSDProof/backtests?
EURGBP backtests very well for me and EURUSD the original version backtests better. Will upload details when all testing is finished.
-
Re: Megadroid Pro
I have not completed all backtests yet but I have some strange results for USDJPY and wonder if someone can run a separate backtest to compare data.
2009.01.01-2009.07.20, 10% risk aggressive and recovery on (I have tested this bot enough to not have to use fixed lots anymore and am trying to get a feel for how it will perform on the actual settings I use).
Alpari UK. MDPro using USDCHF Strategy (4). $10 000 Start.
GMT+1: Profit $14 958, DD 11%.
GMT+2: Profit $-78, DD 55%
I ran these tests both twice (and got the same results) as the difference was so apparent whereas usually GMT+1 performs better but GMT+2 performs ok at least.
-
Re: Megadroid Pro
forexample,Have you ever backtested yourself or just heard from somebody?
What I heard is that for EURUSD, DST should be changed accordingly. For other pairs, fixed GMT+1 (Alpari UK) works better. Please confirm.
Yes every year for most pairs though I've recently started with MD Pro (all at Alpari UK). I actually tested 0-23 for EURUSD and +7 came out 2nd overall, GMT+1 1st and GMT+2nd third. I ran GMT+7 for awhile live but hit a couple of stops then went travelling so stripped it down and went back to default. Default works good but everytime I backtest GMT+1 performs better (for most years not all but overall much better) so I always come back to this.
The theory that the developers optimise using a fixed GMT is interesting but not confirmed.
Somewhere in the old thread a guy solved the issue with software so that he could test with the exact GMT time but the GMT+1 results were better.
I will post my results in a table when I finish...but this is using Metaquotes data so not exact...no-one has offered up decent data yet. At least its good for comparing.
-
Re: Megadroid Pro
Initial testing of EURCHF seems very promising. Once again, a backtest at GMT+1 performs A LOT better than GMT+2. This is true for EURUSD as well most years...I had a big issue with this after backtesting MD when it came out, set up my charts with one instance on GMT+1 and one on GMT+2 and then hit 2 stops on the overlapping time and went back to default.
I know that its not quantitative because of the DST change, but I remember someone on the old thread saying they had used a program so they could get GMT times to work perfectly on backtests ie changing for DST but STILL fixed GMT+1 worked better.
No-one ever has any comments about this...no-one else has noticed this?
-
Re: MegaDroid 1.1 craaacked
Yeah... I agreed... But I am just curious why she got so many trades... and it seems interesting and unbelievable.
Well...her trades are opening between a larger time window...I'm 100% sure she is just changing GMT and just didn't explain herself well. Unbelievable? Wait till she hits a stop on one of the overlapping times.

Re: I NEED HELP WITH FIBONACCI
It is be dead from the point of view that the originator stop writing on it for health reasons. However, the information is readily accessible to the nonprofessional reader, as post it above in the forex factory forum. 8-)The originator stopped running it because he started up a paid service and got the boot from what I remember...and I was following it everyday. What they are doing now is far from what he was teaching IMHO.

Getting good results Sargent?

Re: I NEED HELP WITH FIBONACCI
I don't think we're allowed to post other forum's links here. That thread is dead...but understand it, how to find support & resistance and how to walk fibs and you have an almost complete system with no indicators. Most fib traders use retracements...I use this technique of fib extensions after s/r breaks with good results.

Re: ROBOMINER
ah cmon you mean to say a DD EA wont work? it will blow accounts sooner or later? please say it aint so :-ss
no EA that has not controlled risk will ever last
20% DD and thats a good thing?? @-) anything over 10% DD in my book is risky but hey maybe you guys have deep pockets. ^:)^
I have backtested the crap out of this and it doesn't go boom. I think we are stuck here in a thought hole. I would never allow that kind of DD for manual trading, or most systems for that matter unless the strike rate was exceptional. This is a different kettle of fish. I have another double hedging system that gets into DD of 25% but never busts an account and returns 50% or so every 6 months...you can't withdraw every month but you can wait till it balances, pause it, make a withdrawal then kickstart it again. Deep pockets...no, start with 0.01 lots, 2-3K is all you need.
These are long-term systems that I find balance well with droids like Megadroid and with my own manual trading which is mostly fib-based and bargain hunting. I grid-traded AUDUSD from 60 and NZDUSD from 55 and though I got into some drawdowns I made more than 60% since Nov. Sure I could have just bought at the bottom but this way I took profits every leg up.
My last words here...grid-trading is not for everyone.

Re: MegaDroid 1.1 craaacked
Hmmm...would this make a difference? It trades from set parameters and what TF its on doesn't matter. This bot works great for me...it just doesn't trade much. USDJPY and USDCHF look promising also. We should be focussing on the MegadroidPRO thread and getting a working version that doesn't crash and testing every pair with every System to find out what works best for each pair.
-
Re: MegaDroid 1.1 craaacked
She just changes the GMT to get more trades...dangerous, not recommended.
-
Re: I NEED HELP WITH FIBONACCI
I am looking for a fib tool, do not know if it exists but the idea is simple.
You draw it on your chart, after a break of the upper fib (100) it places an order on an inner level (38.2) with a set stop (0) and a set tp (138.2)...if price hits the 138.2 without retracing to the 38.2 the order is cancelled. Can anyone help or suggest somewhere to go to ask a coder? We have many talented coders here...do we have a thread to request indi's programmed?

Re: ROBOMINER
Anybody have the latest version ? And what's the currency and TM ?Thanks :)
Do you want us to come to your house and set it up too? Read the thread or the site everything is explained in detail.
