OK, Lots issue solved and I've even added code to display all the order details once a trade recommendation appears. The EA download link has been updated in post #91. Remember the EA will open a trade only IF it sees Entry OR Re-Entry. Besides this, if the EA does happen to open trades simultaneously, then you will see the order details for BOTH Buy and Sell on the chart. But like i mentioned before, this will happen only if you set AllowSimultaneousTrades to true...

 

I'm gonna relax now... also, I will be out of town for a few days but will check in every now and then... in the meantime, i leave it to you guys to do your part... BT, BT and more BT :)

Another suggestion: from visual indication I think the signals are more reliable during main sessions - London and US.. so a time filter could be useful.

Hahaha, like i said the EA just takes its values directly from the indis. And when the indi buffers are initialized or if they calculate an invalid value, they show up with this value 2147483647, lol. It's basically the upper limit of the int type variable. But yeah i agree, sanity check is def required, LOL...

 

Time filter will be incorporated much later, not now. Let's first get the basics of this system into the EA as effectively and accurately as possible...

Thanks for reporting this, alankw88. I've modified and updated the EA in post#91. But you need to look out for a few things as well:

 

Did you copy all the SST indicators into your Metatrader's indicators folder, especially SST_CalcLong and SST_CalcShort? If you have done already that, then make sure you load the indicators onto the chart, so that u can see if the EA is behaving according to the system or not...

 

By the way, did you set AllowSimultaneous Trades to true??

 

It shouldnt matter that your broker uses 5 digits, but if this happens again, please give me the following details:

 

Parameters used, Broker name, Broker's simulated Date and time at which the error occurred during the backtest

 

 

Please backtest again and let me know if it's working fine now...

Yes, I have plugin the SST_CalcLong and SST_CalcShort into the chart when backtesting. I didn't change any settings in the EA, everything is default (AllowSimultaneous=False).

 

I will run the backtest again after I back to my home. Will report if any issues found.

OK guys, for those of you who've tested the EA, please let me know if it's following the strategy the way it's supposed to. There are a couple of ppl here who've implemented the manual strategy successfully... and it's quite obvious that some discretion is required in selecting the trades instead of following the indicators blindly. If I have more info, then maybe I can incorporate additional filters to make this EA more accurate.

 

So, let's hear from y'all: please let us know how you have used Seven Summits effectively as a manual strategy?

Think it is of the utmost importance to study a chart prior to opening any trades. To rely solely on the indicators would be a mistake. I have been primarily using CalShort, CalLong together with the Trail and OSOB indicators to further verify any decisions.

The Long & Short indicators are not fool proof and strong signals from my understanding are when either indicator is uniform. The target is always in the middle whereas the outer target is a little too optimistic but often reached providing you trail your stop.

I am a little perplexed what the various colours represent but obviously they represent a possible change in direction & signal strength.

The best time frame in my view is the 1 hour.

If anyone else has any views on identifying strong trades I would like to hear about it

Hello,I've activated the teknomage expert on a demo ECN account, but it doesn't open any trade (it gives me :error #130 -> no error).BTW I'm manually testing the SST and it's giving me very good results (EU 1h TF).

Any suggestion to fix the teknomage EA error?

Gigamax, it would be more helpful if you send me a screenshot of the chart when such an error occurs, particularly with the CalcLong and CalcShort indis on your chart... PM me with details of the trade. If you try backtesting for the same time period, does the same error occur at around the same time as when you started running the EA on the demo?

Please notice the EA opened another wrong sell @ 1.31082 ; the "right" quote (from the SST_SReentry) was @ 1.3099 and it appeared at the end of the 10 GMT bar.

The SL and TP are both wrong (few decimals);because the "right" price was hit in the same bar I will leave this trade on.

Hi Traders and happy new year to all. Firstly i just came across this forum post. I trade the SST manually on TF 15 min charts, using pivot points, fibs and price action to determine whats happening on the markets. I also consider news releases, market reversals which occur in NY and London during their lunch time breaks. Another is to look out for is the stock market jitters which you will find a reversal around 3.00am EST and 9.30am EST before the equity markets open.

 

So knowing this information i can decide whether the trade the SST lines up will go with my plan. I also allow for spread costs when entering the trades guys. I have places the Quick trailing EA on my charts, with Break Even + 1 at around 8 pips, 50% trade taken at 10, and a trailer to let the rest ride if the markets tends that way. This is how i prefer to trade the system ensuring i get profitable trades with good MM.

 

I have run EA before blowing my accounts over and over again. The markets change far to rapidly for the EA's to adapt and change accordingly. I have seen EA been sold for $97 which has a SL = 500 pips and TP = 8 ===>>> ????? Which is total BS and all these internet affiliate marketers should be kicked off and blacklisted from the net.

 

If i had an EA making me money why on earth would you sell it to the public guys! So be careful with an EA as they will blow your account and take your undies as well.

In regards to this forum fantastic work to the programmer in the development of this EA. I have tested it live with small lots sizes on one of my accounts and have found it setting up trades wrong in comparison to the SST set ups on my charts.

 

I will try placing the latest SST indicators on my charts now to see if they are in correlation. Just to let you know im not a programmer, just a Forex Trader so please dont ask me to develop programs.

 

Hopefully we can work together to make some money and make 2011 a fruitful year.
