  1. I use EUR/USD and USD/CHF. Actually if you backtest the USD/CHF pair you will find the results are incredible. The EA is I find reliable because it doesn't need optimization. It is purely based on support and resistance. It does the job for me, and I am fine with incremental gains. In reference to losses the EA may incur, go back and check the losses. there are 2-3 large losses everything else is relatively small.

    could you please post your EURUSD and USDCHF setfiles?

  2. As for me I'm not running KAIN in GMT Automode but using a manuell GMT Offset that I found working best in BT. Up to now I'm totally confident with that setting. It's because of the DST that nearly no Asian Scalper is taking into account

    I found the same thing. Only scalper with a DST offset is Shocker. If you want to hit the same trading window with the others, you've got to do the manual GMT offset.

    Backtest results will also be off, unless the code specifies when the DST was in effect and when it was not. One of the truly under-appreciated nuances, if you ask me.

  3. It only allowed me 3x exits up to a max discount of 30% or $99mth. Am I missing something or has he changed his tune?

    Got the same result when I checked out the site.

    BTW - 'Sam Weir' was the name of a character on the US television series "Freaks & Geeks" about 10 years ago. You would think these developers would be able to come up original pseudonyms, but apparently not....

  4. When I queried the developer on this point directly, I received the following response:

    I will send your comment to my head programmer in the Ukraine who has been working with me on Euro-Blaster for me for over a month, maybe he will have a response for me!

    New feature in Euro-Blaster 7.11

    <!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]-->

    retrace_exit = true/false

    pipsaway = x

    pipsretrace = y

    <!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]-->

    After entering a trade, if price moves x pips into negative territory, order will be modified with a new takeprofit target which will be y pips from entry price.

    <!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]-->

    For example: we set retrace_exit to true.

    Pipsaway = 10

    Pipsretrace = 10

    Hence if a buy trade is made by the expert and the price drops ten pips, the takeprofit target will be modified to be 10 pips above the current price (which would result in breakeven on the trade).

    <!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]-->

    Another example.

    <!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]-->

    Retrace_exit = true

    Pipsaway = 15

    Pipsretrace = 7

    <!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]-->

    A sell trade is made and the price increases 15 pips into losing drawdown. At that point the trade is modified to set a takeprofit traget of 7 pips below the current price. If that new target is hit, it will result in a losing trade of -8 pips.

    <!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]-->

    Another example:

    Retrace_exit=true

    Pipsaway = 25

    Pipsretrace = 10

    <!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]-->

    Here the expert places a buy trade with original take profit target of 100 pips and a stoploss of 50 pips; the prices drops 25 pips which causes the retrace_exit function to trigger. A new take profit target is entered which is 10 pips above the current price. If the price retraces and hits this new take profit target it results in a losing trade of 15 pips.

    Does xbars have that???

    best regards--patrick

    So, it seems the code was heavily borrowed from XBars and then some further modifications were added. Certainly food for thought for anyone thinking of making a purchase.

  5. I'm VERY interested to see what the skilled testers on this forum can come up with regarding good set files for the Breakout Pro version. It seems like a pretty flexible tool.

    There has also been some discussion on other boards about the 4-6 breakout time period not necessarily being the optimum breakout period for the GBPUSD, as well, so there is much to investigate with these EAs.

  6. After the S/L early in the week, I temporarily shut off all of my EAs including the Shocker. Markets are acting unpredictably right now

    due to the Eurozone crisis and these scalpers can't seem to handle the added volatility in the late North American afternoon.

    The question for me will be when to turn them back on....

  7. A small stoploss hit on EURUSD, and one USDCAD trade that is still open.

    I'll only consider pulling shocker if it ends the month 30 pips in the red.

    At the moment, my account is back in the black, but may not get much profit from the rest of this week.

    I mean, last month was a really good month for shocker. This month was a wasted opportunity. Lots of good trades wiped out by 7 full SL hits.

    I'm planning on doing the same. It'll take more than one bad month to get me to pull Shocker. I had the same small loss EURUSD and USDCAD trades today, along with three EURUSD and one GBPUSD T/P. Overall, a profitable day.

  8. Just an FYI that GO Markets is no longer opening corporate/partnership accounts for U.S. citizens. They will honor existing accounts, but no new ones. They have not changed the verbiage on their website yet, but have made this move in response to recently enacted anti-money laundering legislation here in the States.
  9. Well, so much for that.

    Last night Shocker experienced a whopping 4 full stoploss hits, taking the total of wipeouts for this month to 7. That wiped out all monthly profits (it was up nearly 20% for the month before it did this!) and left a hole in my balance. There is one more week of the month to go, so assuming no more wipeouts of this nature, we may break even this month, but 10% is looking a bit close to call!

    4 SL wipeouts in one session is a new low for this EA.

    Well, I got bloodied up pretty good as well with 5 S/L hits in yesterday's session. Not a good day to be counter-trend scalping, to say the least. I have noticed that these types of problems seem to occur when there is extreme volatility earlier in the day; maybe some type of ADR filter would make more sense. I don't know. Seems to be the nature of these beasts: Live by the knife, die by the sword.
