Hi, a quick question, there are about 3 or versions of the Cable Run 3 loaded, are they the same or are there variations people have programmed. Could someone let me know

Had a look at the parameters and they're the same. Latest version is 3.0. First downloads are called V4.0...why? Who knows? I reckon they're the same and for me it doesn't matter as the mods in this thread just for the fact that they run on ATR are superior any how. That's my initial impression. People get wrongly impressed and believe that something is wonderful because it is $249.00 to buy (that's the price guys!). It's called marketing and falls into the paradigm:"you get what you pay for". Applicable to Mercedes Benz...BMW...Caviar... Fender/Gibson guitars etc

It's not true when it comes to EA's for the most part. Because "most" EA's put onto the market are rubbish with a lot of hype behind. Basically a money making scam.Try and find a commercial EA with a news filter. It ain't gonna happen unless someone from here (or similar forum) has modified it :-?

OK boys, I did a quick mod (CableMuruku24H_teknomage version 2) with the FFCal news filter. All credit goes to dinj from the Megadroid N1 thread coz he did all the hard work. I simply plugged FFcal into my mod, so here it is (the required indis are in the indicators folder):

Unfortunately, this mod with News filter cannot be backtested, only forward tested. So, guys, PLEASE demo this EA from tomo onwards and let us know how it goes. Here are the parameters related to the News filter and their default values:

 

AvoidNews=true (true to avoid News, else false)

 

High_Impact=true (filters out High Impact news)

MinsUntilNextHighNews=120 (stop 2 hrs before next High impact)

MinsSincePrevHighNews=420 (stop for 7 hrs after High impact)

 

Medium_Impact=true (similar to above)

extern int MinsUntilNextMediumNews=90 (1.5 hrs before)

extern int MinsSincePrevMediumNews=240 (4 hrs after)

 

Low_Impact=false (default is false, change to true if you wish to avoid Low impact as well)

MinsUntilNextLowNews=60

MinsSincePrevLowNews=60

 

My next mod will incorporate the NCal filter. Many thanks to 4xlord for his help!

How do you insert images

 

Hey guys I've noticed some images posted on the thread. I've gone into advanced and where it says insert images it then asks for a URL address for an image. Can I post an image onto the thread from my P.C?

Hey guys, was just trying out the News mod and it looks like FFCal needs to be edited a bit. The news link in the original FFCal seems to be outdated. So, please open FFCal in your MT4 editor and comment out this line by adding two slashes before it like this //:

string sUrl = "http://www.forexfactory.com/ff_calendar_thisweek.xml";

 

and add this line just below the above line :

string sUrl = "http://cloud.forexfactory.com/ffcal_week_this.xml";

 

Hit Compile and test the FFCal indi by drag n drop onto a chart from the Customer Indicators section in your metatrader. If it works fine, then the mod will work too ;)

Hi teknomage this is the latest with news filter. Step set to 35.

The basket is thicker at the top because I had trades step on 17 previously.

 

I called the broker. They said that I'm allowed to place pending pending orders as close to each other as I want. There is a problem with the EA. I deleted the demo and started a new one so the broker can't tell me whats happening. I'm going to wait for it to happen again and then discuss with broker as they might be able to help from their end.

Basically the story goes if this can't be rectified then I wont be able to use the new EA with News filter.

 

It's happened again on a new demo. Spoke to my broker and he spotted the deleted buy limit pending order. No reason was given as to why it was deleted. I have avoid trade London NY false so it is running. I'm at a loss as to why. The two tekno V5 demos running along side it are working fine opening pending orders and placing them as trades and new pending ordes arriving.. Could it be something to do with ATR? The V5 did it once on Friday trading EURCHF but it happened on a price spike so this is sort of normal from what I've seen. Got to be picky on all details if to be trusted to trade real "mula".

nope tomislav. you must put the image somewhere (imageshack for example) and just give the url in the forum...

or w/o going in advanced you must write tags

Hey Tom, there is usually a gap between the first Buy and Sell limit orders; the following trades will always be at regular intervals. But in your case, you say that the buy pending order was deleted later on?? I'll look into it, but I wont be able to figure out whats actually going wrong from just these images alone. So, I'll need more details about this. Please do a visual backtest for the same time period (i assume these images were from today morning onwards) and send me the backtest report if possible.

 

One more thing: please try switching PreventBacktestErrors to false on your demo and let me know if the gaps still appear or not...

Minprofit=15

 

I had 2 closed trades with profit: $1.80; $2.30

I think I should have $18.0; $23.00

 

Excuse me this silly question, but do I have to consider also "5 digit" to the Minprofit? (meaning instead of 15.0: 150.0)

Yes 4xlord, since it's 5 digits, you should set MinProfit to 150 (for ProfitMode=2) or 15 (if you're using ProfitMode=3). Also, please make sure Step is 170, instead of 17.

a lot of placing deleting of orders happened on one of tekno versions on gbpusd yesterday.i had to remove ea.also a friend insisted i run a backtest with the ea over 2008 and i had a backtest crash which has put me off quite a bit.

Hi halcyonn, can you please provide more details. Which CR version were you using exactly and were you running it on a 4 or 5 digit broker? If it was one of my two most recent versions, order deletion could've happened due to a few of the parameters itself. Was TradeAllDay set to true or false? What were the other settings you used?

 

Guys, please remember, we all know this EA is not perfect. All I strove to do was to add safety precautions to be able to take this robot Live. But yes, we do need to iron out this particular issue until we can move forward.

I'm trading on a 10k account , after 6 days balance is at $13,298 with approx $1,500 in open orders. I have manually closed a number of orders as I have run different versions and settings over 3 pairs.

 

I think in the first decent GU move the account will blow up but I will stick with it to see what happens.

Hi teknomage you were right. Ran two demos of CableRun news filter (latest mod) one with correct back test errors parameter to true and one to false. The one set to true started creating a gap in the trading basket after not too long. The one set to false continued to initialise pending orders and place them as trades when the limit was hit. Thanks heaps man. The pending orders will get deleted regardless if there is a price spike like there was at around 20:00 GMT. The price just dropped like a dead weight. V5 did this as well and I think this is the ATR filter stopping the continued placing of trades because there is a price spike. This is ok. Have you noticed that the price spikes are just about always in the other direction of the trade?

 

A solution comes to mind that a reverse trade parameter is a good idea. Eg When there is a normal opening for a buy trade a sell trade gets placed and when there is normally an open for a sell trade a buy trade gets placed. Of course this will mean that you'll have to place a limit on the amount of trades you can let open. 1-5 I'm guessing. Good for people who don't like DD (me).

 

Teknomage I know you're busy but can you please consider a reverse trade option. It's a great option to have :-bd
