Rio Posted September 4, 2013 Report Share Posted September 4, 2013 what is your risk level when using 3 pairs? 1.0 pr. pair, or 0.33 pr. pair? I'm using the default preset files that were given with the EA. I'm much like you.... yet to experiment with it. I just want to see the defaults in action at the moment. Sepp Malec Posted September 4, 2013 Report Share Posted September 4, 2013 I'm using the default preset files that were given with the EA. I'm much like you.... yet to experiment with it. I just want to see the defaults in action at the moment. okay, i just noticed that in the one i got for my demo account the risk was set to 10.0 per pair, and in the ones for my live account its set to 1.0 .... and then there is the big question, if it should be 1.0 running 1 pair, should it then still be 1.0 when running 3 pairs... in my head i then need to change it to 0.33 to divide the same amount of risk between the 3 pairs.. I haven't touched the presets in any way. In any case, running with 3 pairs with the default risk hasn't created any massive drawdown at all. It is now up over 10% with about half the month gone. 20 trades, all winners (OK, one was a technical loss, but the swap it generated between open and close actually covered the loss it closed with.) Rio Posted September 5, 2013 Report Share Posted September 5, 2013 Hi Rio, Do you have magelan v4 for share ? Nope! Even if I did manage to break the dll on it, I would not spread it as if too many people used it, that would damage it's ability to trade. Pyramid is not like this. If loads of people used it, it's effectiveness wouldn't be diminished. It would be a very hard EA to kill. If you want Magelan v4, Join the club and buy it. I think the purchase is worth it. More than 10% in less than a month is seriously good. Or you can go back to **** EAs:- http://zorro-trader.com/manual/en/tutorial_scam.htm Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Rio Posted September 5, 2013 Report Share Posted September 5, 2013 anyone tried the platform from zorro- trader.com ? No. As a concept and a philosophy I am 100% behind it. I have some strategies that I want to try out... ...but I haven't played with it's coding, so I have no idea about it yet. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Myrmica Posted September 6, 2013 Report Share Posted September 6, 2013 Yeah, you should be seeing hedged trades in the strategy tester... ....but to be honest, I don't have very much faith in the MT4 strategy tester. You only get 90% accuracy and the data is usually bad. Additionally the EAs tend to work differently under the tester. For example, if you can get the GBPUSD to crash in the tester from September last year to September this year, then it's proof that the tester is bad. I can say this confidently because I have run the EA on that pair for a year on my live account and my account hasn't exploded and is still making money. The only way it could crash is if the test environment was wrong, with too much risk, or the tester is ****.... or maybe a combination of all three. I also dont have any faith in the strategy tester because I have seen to many EAs fail in demo or live test although they were good in the strategy tester. Many EAs that have these smooth curves can be kicked into the bin. They dont make it in real live. Actually I also dont have faith in EAs anymore because up to now I dit not find a single one that makes money consistently. Maybe your pyramid is different, lets see, if I can see some hedged trades so at least i can be sure the logic of the EA is right. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Rio Posted September 7, 2013 Report Share Posted September 7, 2013 Actually I also dont have faith in EAs anymore because up to now I dit not find a single one that makes money consistently. Maybe your pyramid is different, lets see, if I can see some hedged trades so at least i can be sure the logic of the EA is right. Pyramid can make money consistantly, but like anything it comes with risks. One day the banks may decide to move price and blow out monthly and weekly ranges and destroy it. Unlikely, but given the current world situation, not completely unlikely to happen either. The trick with EAs always is:- 1) find ones that work 2) run them all on different accounts, different brokers 3) Withdraw profits after a time to cover the initial start funds, so you are at breakeven 4) Expect some accounts to blow, take profits from the others to start them up again 5) Rinse wash repeat Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Rio Posted September 10, 2013 Report Share Posted September 10, 2013 (edited) Hi Rio, Can PyramidXE survive in a crisis like 2008's crisis with 8000 pips down ? Totally depends on how much risk you use and how many pairs you run.... but my guess is that it would get killed. Note that the EA was created after the crash. That highlights the importance of withdrawing your initial startup funding as soon as you can and letting the robot run. Take some profits out every month. Leave the bulk of the profits to increase the account.... or just let it run until a point where withdrawing a your startup fund will not upset compounding profit per month. Here's an calculation of what you could project with this EA. Suppose you have $3000 to start with, and the EA reliably makes 8% a month on average. Then each month, you pocket 4% of that profit and save it:- Start: $3000 - monthly gain:8% monthly withdraw:4% 1 : $ 3000.00 -> $ 3240.00 - GAIN:$ 240.00 - PROFIT: $ 129.60 2 : $ 3110.40 -> $ 3359.23 - GAIN:$ 248.83 - PROFIT: $ 263.97 3 : $ 3224.86 -> $ 3482.85 - GAIN:$ 257.99 - PROFIT: $ 403.28 4 : $ 3343.54 -> $ 3611.02 - GAIN:$ 267.48 - PROFIT: $ 547.72 5 : $ 3466.58 -> $ 3743.91 - GAIN:$ 277.33 - PROFIT: $ 697.48 6 : $ 3594.15 -> $ 3881.68 - GAIN:$ 287.53 - PROFIT: $ 852.75 7 : $ 3726.41 -> $ 4024.53 - GAIN:$ 298.11 - PROFIT: $ 1013.73 8 : $ 3863.55 -> $ 4172.63 - GAIN:$ 309.08 - PROFIT: $ 1180.63 9 : $ 4005.73 -> $ 4326.18 - GAIN:$ 320.46 - PROFIT: $ 1353.68 10 : $ 4153.14 -> $ 4485.39 - GAIN:$ 332.25 - PROFIT: $ 1533.10 11 : $ 4305.97 -> $ 4650.45 - GAIN:$ 344.48 - PROFIT: $ 1719.11 12 : $ 4464.43 -> $ 4821.59 - GAIN:$ 357.15 - PROFIT: $ 1911.98 13 : $ 4628.72 -> $ 4999.02 - GAIN:$ 370.30 - PROFIT: $ 2111.94 14 : $ 4799.06 -> $ 5182.98 - GAIN:$ 383.92 - PROFIT: $ 2319.26 15 : $ 4975.66 -> $ 5373.72 - GAIN:$ 398.05 - PROFIT: $ 2534.21 16 : $ 5158.77 -> $ 5571.47 - GAIN:$ 412.70 - PROFIT: $ 2757.07 17 : $ 5348.61 -> $ 5776.50 - GAIN:$ 427.89 - PROFIT: $ 2988.13 18 : $ 5545.44 -> $ 5989.08 - GAIN:$ 443.64 - PROFIT: $ 3227.69 So 2.5 years later, assuming no crashes, you have broken even with $5000 left to trade (which you can also withdraw right now if you want). Meanwhile, you could reinvest your profit (perhaps in a bank), so your overall profit would be larger over this time anyway. Of course, you could just risk the lot and not pull anything out, and see where that takes you:- Start: $3000 - monthly gain:8% monthly withdraw:0% 1 : $ 3000.00 -> $ 3240.00 - GAIN:$ 240.00 2 : $ 3240.00 -> $ 3499.20 - GAIN:$ 259.20 3 : $ 3499.20 -> $ 3779.14 - GAIN:$ 279.94 4 : $ 3779.14 -> $ 4081.47 - GAIN:$ 302.33 5 : $ 4081.47 -> $ 4407.98 - GAIN:$ 326.52 6 : $ 4407.98 -> $ 4760.62 - GAIN:$ 352.64 7 : $ 4760.62 -> $ 5141.47 - GAIN:$ 380.85 8 : $ 5141.47 -> $ 5552.79 - GAIN:$ 411.32 9 : $ 5552.79 -> $ 5997.01 - GAIN:$ 444.22 10 : $ 5997.01 -> $ 6476.77 - GAIN:$ 479.76 11 : $ 6476.77 -> $ 6994.92 - GAIN:$ 518.14 12 : $ 6994.92 -> $ 7554.51 - GAIN:$ 559.59 13 : $ 7554.51 -> $ 8158.87 - GAIN:$ 604.36 14 : $ 8158.87 -> $ 8811.58 - GAIN:$ 652.71 15 : $ 8811.58 -> $ 9516.51 - GAIN:$ 704.93 16 : $ 9516.51 -> $ 10277.83 - GAIN:$ 761.32 17 : $ 10277.83 -> $ 11100.05 - GAIN:$ 822.23 18 : $ 11100.05 -> $ 11988.06 - GAIN:$ 888.00 19 : $ 11988.06 -> $ 12947.10 - GAIN:$ 959.04 20 : $ 12947.10 -> $ 13982.87 - GAIN:$ 1035.77 21 : $ 13982.87 -> $ 15101.50 - GAIN:$ 1118.63 22 : $ 15101.50 -> $ 16309.62 - GAIN:$ 1208.12 23 : $ 16309.62 -> $ 17614.39 - GAIN:$ 1304.77 24 : $ 17614.39 -> $ 19023.54 - GAIN:$ 1409.15 25 : $ 19023.54 -> $ 20545.43 - GAIN:$ 1521.88 26 : $ 20545.43 -> $ 22189.06 - GAIN:$ 1643.63 27 : $ 22189.06 -> $ 23964.18 - GAIN:$ 1775.12 28 : $ 23964.18 -> $ 25881.32 - GAIN:$ 1917.13 29 : $ 25881.32 -> $ 27951.82 - GAIN:$ 2070.51 30 : $ 27951.82 -> $ 30187.97 - GAIN:$ 2236.15 31 : $ 30187.97 -> $ 32603.01 - GAIN:$ 2415.04 32 : $ 32603.01 -> $ 35211.25 - GAIN:$ 2608.24 33 : $ 35211.25 -> $ 38028.15 - GAIN:$ 2816.90 34 : $ 38028.15 -> $ 41070.40 - GAIN:$ 3042.25 35 : $ 41070.40 -> $ 44356.03 - GAIN:$ 3285.63 36 : $ 44356.03 -> $ 47904.52 - GAIN:$ 3548.48 37 : $ 47904.52 -> $ 51736.88 - GAIN:$ 3832.36 38 : $ 51736.88 -> $ 55875.83 - GAIN:$ 4138.95 39 : $ 55875.83 -> $ 60345.89 - GAIN:$ 4470.07 40 : $ 60345.89 -> $ 65173.56 - GAIN:$ 4827.67 41 : $ 65173.56 -> $ 70387.45 - GAIN:$ 5213.89 42 : $ 70387.45 -> $ 76018.45 - GAIN:$ 5631.00 43 : $ 76018.45 -> $ 82099.92 - GAIN:$ 6081.48 44 : $ 82099.92 -> $ 88667.91 - GAIN:$ 6567.99 45 : $ 88667.91 -> $ 95761.35 - GAIN:$ 7093.43 46 : $ 95761.35 -> $ 103422.26 - GAIN:$ 7660.91 47 : $ 103422.26 -> $ 111696.04 - GAIN:$ 8273.78 48 : $ 111696.04 -> $ 120631.72 - GAIN:$ 8935.68 49 : $ 120631.72 -> $ 130282.26 - GAIN:$ 9650.54 50 : $ 130282.26 -> $ 140704.84 - GAIN:$ 10422.58 51 : $ 140704.84 -> $ 151961.22 - GAIN:$ 11256.39 52 : $ 151961.22 -> $ 164118.12 - GAIN:$ 12156.90 53 : $ 164118.12 -> $ 177247.57 - GAIN:$ 13129.45 54 : $ 177247.57 -> $ 191427.38 - GAIN:$ 14179.81 55 : $ 191427.38 -> $ 206741.57 - GAIN:$ 15314.19 56 : $ 206741.57 -> $ 223280.89 - GAIN:$ 16539.33 57 : $ 223280.89 -> $ 241143.37 - GAIN:$ 17862.47 58 : $ 241143.37 -> $ 260434.83 - GAIN:$ 19291.47 59 : $ 260434.83 -> $ 281269.62 - GAIN:$ 20834.79 60 : $ 281269.62 -> $ 303771.19 - GAIN:$ 22501.57 61 : $ 303771.19 -> $ 328072.89 - GAIN:$ 24301.70 62 : $ 328072.89 -> $ 354318.72 - GAIN:$ 26245.83 63 : $ 354318.72 -> $ 382664.21 - GAIN:$ 28345.50 64 : $ 382664.21 -> $ 413277.35 - GAIN:$ 30613.14 65 : $ 413277.35 -> $ 446339.54 - GAIN:$ 33062.19 66 : $ 446339.54 -> $ 482046.70 - GAIN:$ 35707.16 67 : $ 482046.70 -> $ 520610.44 - GAIN:$ 38563.74 68 : $ 520610.44 -> $ 562259.27 - GAIN:$ 41648.84 69 : $ 562259.27 -> $ 607240.02 - GAIN:$ 44980.74 70 : $ 607240.02 -> $ 655819.22 - GAIN:$ 48579.20 71 : $ 655819.22 -> $ 708284.76 - GAIN:$ 52465.54 72 : $ 708284.76 -> $ 764947.54 - GAIN:$ 56662.78 73 : $ 764947.54 -> $ 826143.34 - GAIN:$ 61195.80 74 : $ 826143.34 -> $ 892234.81 - GAIN:$ 66091.47 75 : $ 892234.81 -> $ 963613.59 - GAIN:$ 71378.78 76 : $ 963613.59 -> $ 1040702.68 - GAIN:$ 77089.09 ...a million in a bit over 6 years, with monthly profits of over 70K from here on out. qkhanh02 Posted September 11, 2013 Report Share Posted September 11, 2013 Hi Rio, I have done some backtests with $2000 account in 2011, 2012, 2013 and got these results: Account survive in 2013 but blew up in 2012 and 2011 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Rio Posted September 12, 2013 Report Share Posted September 12, 2013 I ran the EA on GBP only from September 2012. Didn't crash for me. Anyway I've moved on to using Magelan v4 live. Not running Pyramid any more. Oh, and by the way - I had Pyramid 8 get fully educated. Will post later. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Will post later. im also running Magelan V4 live, but would be great to also have pyramid 8, as im managing an account for a friend, using your XE 2-2 at the moment (witch still is awsome by the way). do you have any idea of the monthly gain of PM8, because if i remember correct its not so agressive as the 5.2 version right? :) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
energetic Posted September 12, 2013 Report Share Posted September 12, 2013 would u like sharing with us why you are no longer to run Pyramid any more? thanks. Rio Posted September 13, 2013 Report Share Posted September 13, 2013 would u like sharing with us why you are no longer to run Pyramid any more? thanks. Magelan is safer and more profitable per month. It's not a hard decision. Only thing I don't like about it is that it's trend following trade signals aren't that good. I'd like to hack it up and replace the trading signals with something I think would work better, while keeping the hedging strategy. As for Pyramid 8... I ran it side by side with XE2.2, and XE2.2 came out more profitable. That said, Pyramid 8 uses less leverage and is much much safer and kinder on drawdown, at the cost of being less profitable. cokhisaa 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Rio Posted September 13, 2013 Report Share Posted September 13, 2013 Here's Pyramid 8 http://[email protected]/zip/JRgD3lYd/pyea801ma.html ;) Note the major differences to xe2.2 It's only designed to run on EU on the 1H chart. Since I have not tested this educated EA much (I'm not even sure it works, although it should) all I can say is that it's not as profitable as xe2.2, but it may be able to survive market crashes (maybe). Information is in the archive. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

qkhanh02 Posted September 14, 2013 Report Share Posted September 14, 2013 Hi Rio, Can you share your presets file for magelanv4? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
qkhanh02 Posted September 14, 2013 Report Share Posted September 14, 2013 Please share your default set files for magelan v4, we might have a look at it and applied it to v3.02 Thanks a lot Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Rio Posted September 16, 2013 Report Share Posted September 16, 2013 Magelan v3 and Magelan v4 are radically different EAs. Magelan v4 has twice as much code as v3 and the inputs have nothing in common. v4 is like a complete rewrite with the "Magelan" name. That said, Magelan v3 is still a massively profitable EA .... IF you want to optimise the inputs on it. The gains that it can reportedly take in demo (above 100% per month with just one pair) vastly outweigh what I've so far seen with v4 (which is perhaps more stable, but less profitable) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
jsintl Posted September 17, 2013 Report Share Posted September 17, 2013 Hi Rio, Can you provide your settings for Magelan V3? Tks in advance. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Rio Posted September 17, 2013 Report Share Posted September 17, 2013 I'm not testing Magelan v3, only v4. Why don't some of you guys try optimising it's inputs on different pairs? I take it that it only needs a year worth of data to optimize over. Maybe you can share your settings with me? I think I've shared quite a bit already. cokhisaa, cytyroller and Sepp Malec 3 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
qkhanh02 Posted September 17, 2013 Report Share Posted September 17, 2013 I dont know why if I tried to use tester optimization it always return same results.. It happens to Magelan only Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
