Another very bad day for MDPro. It counter traded in strong eur/usd uptrend twice hitting two SL. Plus SL in gbp/usd and usd/cad. I lost 80pips (break even overall). I'm slowly begining to loose faith in this ea. What do you think?

Yes, lest night was bad for eurusd, gbpusd and usdcad.

have to wait to say this ea is no longer usefull

I wish I used it sooner. My demo account has grown 100% with only 0.1lot size per trade (from 3000 to 6000€) in summer months. We see so many sideway breakouts in Assian session now that I don't know if any scalping ea can be profitable right now. I'm also using Eurocross D05 and the same story. Very good till September and loosing big time now :(

yday was a FOMC speech on 18:45 GMT, which has been announced on the forex calendar way in advance. If you people do not watch this calendar and eventually switch off the EA's ... it is not to blame on the Megadroid !

 

I personally had a temp drawdown of 25% yday, but all went fine, +1% this night. Thus I cannot confirm any hassle 'bout the MegaDroid XE 1.2. My account has made +60% in September, in October currently up 10% overall. Including 5 SL's ...

I kicked off USDCAD long time ago, with trying out Logic 1-4 and not getting any useful result in live trading. on GPBUSD I use logic 4 and not 1. EURGBP kicked out also, same with AUDUSD.

 

I just wonder why many people seem to start screaming around when it once or twice goes wrong. Adjust your money management & logics (really think about that !!!) properly, do not be greedy, and look on the long run.

There was high impact news all this month messing things around, not to mention there was one last night!

Don't lose faith unless it's deserved, one or two bad days between all this high impact news is hardly anything to worry about.

If you don't understand, get yourself the economic calendar and start disabling EAs on the days surrounding/including high impact news :D

I do turn off my ea (currency pair) if there is medium/high impact news event during assian session on calendar. I missed the ones that started before trading time of the ea and obviously also have impact on assian session. I learn something new every day ;)) During manual trading when scalping I avoid trading 15min before and 15min after news, which does the trick but then again I allways trade with the trend.

FOMC mostly makes the things go wild. Even if it is not classified as a high impact news, would you 100% bet on that ? Me not :) Also people tend to forget that end of September also means end of a business quartal. Very much volatility seen here often. For some stock market companies this even means a new business year starting, cause they have a different timing from Q4 to Q4 instead of Q1-Q1. Same is not to trade on end of Q4, meaning the low volatility in holiday season / christmas.

I have also seen a lot impact around chinese new year, that is around end of January. Won't trade this either.

 

Always remember : a SL is at least 4-6 times as bad as a TP. Meaning this to lot sizes : 0.1 good = 0.7 loss, 0.5 good means 3 bad ... and compare the wins of 0.4 lots difference ... you know what I mean. Money Management. I started trading this April with 5k EUR and 0.1 lot sizes ... current equity is 14k5 after 5 months ... only with smallest lot sizes on a Alpari Classic account. We should take lead shots on small birds ... (breaking a fly on the wheel :)

 

I also do not trade the week starting around 23rd each month, where the friday brings the USD jobless numbers. See the MD Switch for month end -> FALSE, but this only disables trading on 29/30th, but not quite sure.

 

What you guys also could do is to "watch and read" the charts after the news releases. Do we always have to trade both sides of the story ? If USD numbers are better for the currency as pronounced, I switch EURUSD to sell only, leaving the buys behind. This often saved me !

 

It's pit luck for those who cannot monitor the trades done from MD in live, sitting in front of the PC, I know that. But life's not easy :)

I'm only really using MDP on the EURUSD and USDCHF these days.

 

To be honest, I'm trying to develop my own scalping EA based off a few indicators I like which will work on any pair, just about any timeframe (well, anywhere from M15 to H1), and make at least one scalp per day at any time when a good setup appears. It won't take many pips, but that's not the point. The point is that it will dodge news events and won't lose horribly !

Yes this bot is not pulling its weight live at Alpari UK...dunno if its spreads but most trades on non-EU pairs are closing for less than 1 pip...not worth it.

not pulling its weight??..thats a bit of an undersatement, it worked great in demo on my but never made aprofit on my alpari classic account....this week i worked out that nealry all my stop losses weer on trades taken after 3.00am and had i not traded thise time would have made aprofit..i readjusted the times and heh presto from 13th Octtober up to last night inclusive anothe six stop losses !! I think someone is trying to tell me something....what a waste of so much time, thats the hard bit...the money is an irritation....i definitely have to bin it now, the gains are so miniscule I can't see it ever coming back into profit

i hade 100% profits using MDP on only usdchf

 

eurusd takes nothing but losses so i dont use it on that anymore

 

my legitimate copy of megadoid normal has not traded this week on my real account but the last few weeks have killed me.

 

however usdchf has made up for it, 100% wins all making a good 30+pips

 

i am trading the london session and NY sessions and getting good results

MDPro made modest gain in pips for me in last 50 days. Not much but at least not negative overall.

 

My results live so far;

 

eur/chf= -25pips

eur/gbp= -58pips

eur/jpy= +31pips

eur/usd= -62pips

gbp/chf= +33pips

gbp/usd= -64pips

usd/cad= +72pips

usd/chf= +76pips

usd/jpy= +62pips

its not meant to trade daily, weekly sounds about right for default non aggressive megadroid

 

change you gmt offset throughout the day if you want extra trades, or load extra copy's and give each a new manual GMt offset with +2 or -2 in between each.

 

or search for Advanced Droid Tactics on this forum if you want detailed write up on how to get extra trades

 

remember with extra non default trades comes great risk.

 

i have had 1 trade this week using default MD which i payed for, i dont expect it to trade again this week. finally a eurusd winner on default :-bd

Guys, it seems hard to drop MD and MDpro after all the time and effort we put in. I agree with news trading being a problem. I have found a news filter that stops your EA trading for whatever set minutes before and after news (internal). It can be set for High, Medium or Low impact news (you choose, external)...

 

Thanks for the ea I'll try it next week on demo.However I don't think FFcal ea can solve news problem completely. When we have high impact news event especially USD before MDPro trading hours its impact can have consequences on all MDPro trading hours (first spike up or down then retrace to 23, 38, 61... fib. etc) and MDPro just can't cope with such movements :(

This is probably going to sound really daft. But I'll suggest it anyway. If the strategy was reversed for megadroid would it make a great breakout ea? So reverse the position and the sl and tp. Run it during highly probably breakout times. (london & newyork). Sure you would get a few sl as it would be so tight. But then you should crack a big one to make up for it.
