Decompilation

Hi,

Can someone be kind enough to decompile this EA so that we can see under the hood and make improvements? It seems to backtest really good on EURCHF M15. Thanks in advance.

Ok here the working Expert available for all, now i just need to optimize like Russians did.

 

Test it in EUR/JPY M5, you can't believe what you see, LOOK THE WIN RATIO, UNBELIEVABLE, ONE OF THE GREATEST EA WITH SL I EVER SEEN :shock:

Try running a backtest on EURJPY M5 from Jan 2005 til jan 2006. You will see the real colors of this EA. It just blows the account even at 2% risk! Just my experience with it, that's all. Happy to at least test it.

Analisys and backtest

Hi,

I looked at the TUYUL code and ran some backtests. My conclusion is that initially it appears to be a good EA because it hardly loses with the settings posted here. But sometimes it gets "stuck" and the backtest does not seem to advance. The reason is that with the setting "TrailingStopOnlyProfit" set to true it never places a stop loss until it is in a profit. If the market goes against it.. it will simply keep losing and losing until the account is wiped out if the price does not retrace to profitable territory. If you want a true test set "useStopLoss" to true and "TrailingStopOnlyProfit" to false. Then you will see the real value of TUYUL!!

I will not post the backtest here since I think it is best that each draws his conclusions from doing himself. Hope this sheds some light!

Please share comments/thoughts.

Me too no trade this last night.

You need to use the DLL version 1.1 that was posted on this board. To my knowledge it was cracked which stopped it from calling home. Hope this helps.

Yesterday's only trade on my IBFX account which failed to reach the TP level eventually closed with a small loss. Yet is was far outweighed by today's two new trades both of which closed in profit on all four accounts. Hence, the current situation on my accounts is as follows:

Hi Pipsbuster,

Have you had any trades with version the originally licensed 1.11 version? A friend is running it for last 3 days since it came out on a real micro account and no trades at all. It could be the spread of the EU that it does not like. There are no errors in the Experts Journal and everything seems to be running fine. On the other hand the "cooked" version 1.10b posted here made 5 winning trades during the same time.

How else would that explain why only 5% of forex traders make any money? If all these “magical” indicators and robots worked, why are there so many people crashing their accounts?

All these overpriced indicators provide absolutely NO insight to the market!!

So, why are people spending their hard earned money on all this garbage? It’s simple. Most traders don’t really have a clue what’s going on in the market.

They would much rather just fill their charts with indicators telling them when and how to trade.

Almost All Trading Indicators Are Lagging.

Backtest is very very slow and it seems to get stuck after 3-5 trades. I think at the end of the week on Friday it gets confused and just sits there on positions. Anybody experiencing the same thing?

I confirm 100% your backtest. I get exactly the same. The only way to make it better (IMHO) is to apply a filter like the Damiani_Volt (M15) and let the filter select when it should trade. The Damiani_Volt filter checks for volatility and a sideways market which MegaDroid likes to trade. In any trending market MegaDroid performs poorly. This is also a recommendation for the MegaDroid team to add Damiami_Volt and let it trade for 24hrs instead of just trading 2 hrs a day. The stats then become much much better. When I have a more stable version with Damiami_Volt filter I will share it. For now it is on the bench. Maybe some of you can think of other indicators to use for filtering the trendy market and allow it to trade only when the market is moving sideways. They should have seen this issue and correct it, rather than rely on some algorithm that performs good only during when the market is stale. See the 24Hrs backtest (with filtering) here:

Thank you for posting this. I ran a backtest from Jan-2005 til current in EURUSD H1 and it performs poorly until 2008. From 2005-2008 it is not good at all. Maybe the author just optimized it for the most recent period. Draw is big and this is definitely a risky EA to trade. Nevertheless very well worth to evaluate.

Version 110b does what it is supposed to do just as the original version. It took a successful trade as reported here for the last 24 hrs. Having the capability to change it start/end times is very useful I think. I find that trading it for more extended hours performs better most of the time and give more trades therefore more profit. Of course, it can lose more too!

If you wonder, I am using a licensed copy myself and would suggest that everyone else who decided to test MegaDroid does the same - after I found the EA's script to exchange information with the developers' server. It is just too much risk to get tracked down by them for distributing their software illegally. The speed at which they raid files with their EA on sites like 4shared.com, rapid*share.com and similar ones should give you a pretty good clue on that.

You're absolutely right. If you like the EA and plan to trade it on real money - then buy it. These guys release very frequent updates and it is not worth blowing your account for $97. Might as well use the original product. However having said this, I totally disagree with MegaDroid's misleading advertising approach where they say that this EA works in any market conditions and trades at random times. This is simply not true. Maybe if they stuck to their sales pitch and coded it accordingly, they would get a lot more traders buying the original version. Just my 2 cents and since the MegaDroid team pays close attention to this thread - maybe they can revise their philosophy of delivering a product in step with their ad campain.

I backtested it on EURUSD H4 and surprisingly it did not blow the account. It has a good PF and winning rate. Looking at the code it is amazing to see that it uses no indicators. It just buys and sells and does a Martingdale approach. Very dangerous for a real account I think. SL is very wide ~100 pips. Looking forward other testers to share thoughts and experiences.

Yes this is what I was looking for out of curiosity to backtest it since it is rated as one of the top 5 EAs. So far running 2005-2006 it does not look very promising. It runs the backtest good on 4 decimal brokers like Broco Trader. Thank you so much for posting it!

I answered my own question by looking at the statements. 0.24 lots. A bit risky for a $3k account but since the EA is winning mostly, its not that high risk afterall. Good luck trading with it!

Hi,

I have done some extensive analysis of the MGDR 1.10 code mql4 code and the DLL and I want to share the "cooked" version with the community in hopes we can all test and improve it together. I totally believe that it is has a good concept, however I was dissappointed to find out what settings the MegaDroid team has chosen to make this look like a great EA. If I were a paying customer I would ask for a refund for the simple fact that they misrepresent the MegaDroid concept in their advertisements. What do I mean by this? They say that the EA trades can handle any market conditions and it trades at random during the 24 hrs. Both of these statements are not true so shame for lying and deceiving your clients MegaDroid Team. The facts are that - it CANNOT handle any market conditions well and it only trades with System1 from 21-23 (2 hrs) and System2 from 22-23 (1 hr). If you set different trading times in the attached 1.10b version (which now bypasses the DLL 100%), you will notice that the performance is not as good. If you want to trade with the same times as the DLL is controlling, simply set "UseDLLTradeTimes" option to true. If you set to false try changing the S1 and S2 times to whatever GMT you want to test and run a backtest. You will see what I mean.

Also I recommend to set the "AutoGmtOffset" option to false since it gives the wrong GMTOffset for most brokers. Set the "GMTOffset" manually to your broker which assures 100% you have it correct. As far as the Start and End times, these are separately for System1 and System2 as they were originally coded.

If you want to know 100% the times that the DLL sends back to the EA simply set "UseDLLTradeTimes" option to true and check your Journal/Expert Tab to see the message as such:

2009.04.26 19:53:06 2009.01.02 06:01 MegaDroid EURUSD,M15: ==> S1SH1: 21 S1EH1: 23 S1SH2: 21 S1EH2: 23

This means that S1 is starting at 21 and ends at 23 and S2 starts at 22 and ends at 23. Hope you enjoy this version and please run backtests on your own and share your conclusions with us so we may improve the EA.

Please don't bombard me with basic questions since I have limited time to answer, but I don't mind answering questions related to coding and functionality of the EA. It would be most helpful for the good coders here to take a look at the code and make some good comments.

Hi James,

I already have the original DLL so no need to re-post it. We need someone with C++ DLL decompilation experience to look inside the DLL and do the authentication patch. I'll try to look for the backtests on H1 and M15 and post them. In the meantime I would recommend to run both on your own since backtests are very much dependent on broker data and your conclusion may be different then mine.

I downloaded your cleaned version of megadroid V1.1 and attached on the chart of eurusd, 1h.

 

I noticed it still said "Forex Megadroid is disabled because the receipt number is incorrect". Then, I clicked "OK", it appeared on my screen "Authenticated".

 

So, does it mean this cleaned DLL is completely cleaned or still have any problem with the authorization / authentication?

 

Do I have to type in any number in the receiptcode ? if yes, then, how many nos should I type in?

Hi,

You will still get the "Forex Megadroid is disabled because the receipt number is incorrect" message once you put it on a chart since this error comes from the DLL "calling home". There is not much that we can do about this unless someone just patches the DLL itself. This message you should get only once you start the EA live or a backtest but afterwards it should run fine. Also I recommend the M15 EURUSD timeframe instead of H1. On my backtest, it seems to do a bit better on M15. Leave the ReceiptCode blank. No need to type in anything.

I have 2 things which I think will give you what you need. Unfortunately I don't have the exact range bar indicator. Either Renko or Point&Figure do more or less the same thing. I have attached both of them in case you want to give them a shot. Both work really well for me especially Point&Figure which is not that much used for FX.
