If not, can an educator help with this? It has a 14 day trial limited to 50 stocks.

Typically the MetaStock data in ASCII format has 8 columns -->> Ticker, Interval, Date (yyyymmdd), Open, High, Low, Close, Volume; however, in some trading platforms that have a link to a MetaStock data provider get 9 columns which include the full name of the stock. My question is that with a program that downloads data from Yahoo which column is designated for full name. If you look at the instructions from the link http://www.trading-tools.com/c2ms.htm it's not clear where the "Name" column is located, especially since Yahoo data doesn't include Open Interest. This means that the current version of MetaStock data format could be 10 columns which is Ticker, Interval, Date (yyyymmdd), Open, High, Low, Close, Volume, Open Interest, Name; if this is the correct order of the data structure.

I think that the Intraday data structure is Ticker, Date (yyyymmdd), Time, Open, High, Low, Close, Volume, Open Interest, Name.

Hi Bill;

If you have Metastock, also, then you have installed "The Downloader"; with this program you can convert data in ASCII format to MS format, etc. I think that your solution is MLDownloader; with this program you can download data from Yahoo Finance with dividend and splits, in MS format directly.

Yes, MLDownloader is great for the first 3000 stocks, but when I use it for all of the US stocks; it skips over hundreds of them. Even when I break down the number of symbols by stock exchanges - NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ, it still can't handle all the downloads. There must be away around this. I changed the settings in the Options menu to 6000 symbols, but it still skips over hundreds of symbols.

hi bebopippo,

After 12 hr. of download delay on the slow option I got the message: "The hosting period for this file has now expired, only premium users can download it". Grrrr….. Can you please repost it on a more friendly host such as sendspace?

Thanks you in advance, Ron
