Amibroker is a cheap charting software compare to TradeStation, Metastock, ...etc.

The software imported features from metastock, tradestation and ...etc and improve over it.

It also constanstly added additional features according to people feedback and suggestion.

 

Metastock offer seperate EOD and Realtime version, but amibroker offer EOD & Realtime in one version.

You can trade stock, future, forex... as long as amibroker able to link to the data service provider.

 

If you are a simple stock trader without using fancy indicator - you can replace the metastock with amibroker.

The powerful of amibroker is the fast scanning and flexibility over metastock;

- It allow skipping certain type of stocks such as warrant that you don't want

- You can display the scanning more presentable compare to the limitation in the metastock.

for example, in matastock, boolean is display as 1 or 0 in the column; but amibroker can display in yes/no, true/false or other string as you wish.

 

However, all these flexibility need the help of some programming guide.

Because it is using c-liked scripting, it actually can do automatic trading and a lot of other stuffs to overcome the metatock limitation.

Yeah, I personally think Amibroker is the best for backtesting, very flexible to get new system done,

and it can backtest multicurrency strategies.

Amibroker 5.2 onwards does Forward Testing of the system which one uses.Howard Bandy's book explains the way to go about forward testing.

It can't do tick level analysis and store the data like bid ask delta etc, otherwise it's very flexible in what it can do.

I dont try this 64 Bit as I am using only 32 Bit.

 

One of way is use any internet security such as Kaspersky ,Quick Heal, Norton... and use its firewall to BLock Amibroker.exe to approch to net.

 

Second way only Firewall application (Freeware and commercial) avaialble on net. Just googling .

 

Third way modify Host file with this lines.

 

127.0.0.1 www.amibroker.com

127.0.0.1 amibroker.com

127.0.0.1 www.amibroker.pl

127.0.0.1 amibroker.pl

127.0.0.1 www.amibroker.net

127.0.0.1 amibroker.net

But by using third option also you cannot open Amibroker website to see any Help file, Tutorial..etc.

According to the official website, key on the 32bits does not work in the 64bits version.

I have one question here, does the blocking internet access is a one time process ? Means after applying the patches we can unblock it to access the internet ??

 

If it is a one time process then how about turning off the internet during the installation ??
