MetaCrazy
one of the weaknesses of these types of scalpers is that they do not scalp with the trend. last night the trend was down for the eurusd. in a strong down trend these scalpers will buy and vice versa. a loss is guaranteed in this type of environment. fx4a
What about modifying the code so it scalps in the direction of the trend only. Say using Trend magic indy as the signal?
acosma
for me it has become a real job, always running backtest, optimization, forward test, continuously reading various forum, always searching for new ea to try, but so far earn money nothing yet.... maybe if I had spent all those hours for a real job I have earned safe money and without risk.... do not want to discourage anyone 'though... just an opinion .... Pipaholic
I had 4 stoplosses yesterday also, After 3 months of making money, it only took 2 weeks to wipe it out. I'm back down to my original deposit. Kind of sad as it was doing so well.
Chip4Pips
Well, so much for that. Last night Shocker experienced a whopping 4 full stoploss hits, taking the total of wipeouts for this month to 7. That wiped out all monthly profits (it was up nearly 20% for the month before it did this!) and left a hole in my balance. There is one more week of the month to go, so assuming no more wipeouts of this nature, we may break even this month, but 10% is looking a bit close to call! 4 SL wipeouts in one session is a new low for this EA. Well, I got bloodied up pretty good as well with 5 S/L hits in yesterday's session. Not a good day to be counter-trend scalping, to say the least. I have noticed that these types of problems seem to occur when there is extreme volatility earlier in the day; maybe some type of ADR filter would make more sense. I don't know. Seems to be the nature of these beasts: Live by the knife, die by the sword.
acosma
medical visit to specialist doctors here in Italy: 15 minute visit = 100 euro or even 200 euro, SAFE without risk. how many visits in one day of 15 minutes once ? without mention dentists doctor ( crazy prices ) What do you think? is it better than forex ? only thing that they had to study hard, almost like me in backtest, forward test, forums read, study and great headaches anyway Just kidding... :-) Edited April 23, 2010 by acosma
xxl205
Hmm, I had 2 good trades on Shocker v2.0 EURUSD yesterday, nothing blew my wins away as stated here ... I wonder why. I run it not agressive on Alpari UK Classic Account, and it has not had a single loss this month... but I switched all EA's off over eastern and FOMC and such stuff. Also it could have been predictable with this annoying greek numbers again that it gets too trendy at night. One thing blew me though, was DragonPips v2.02 non agressive, but the 6 other trades made 70% of the session loss up again.
hitescape
For me it has been nothing but losses for the last 2 months on MB Traders, Jade and The Collective. The bad RR ratio negates all of the good trades. One SL takes out a months of earnings, 2 stop losses = two months. I have had four stop losses in the last 6 weeks. It has been retired to the digital junk yard as of this morning.

hitescape
HAGARm The stats you provide are for one broker. Shocker is very broker dependent. I only traded ERUUSD and EURCHF but it was not uncommon to have no trades om MB Trading a win at Jade and a stop loss at The Collective. Also, for ANY scalper, trades on demo accounts are absolutly worthless because demo accounts never have requotes, off quotes or depth of liquidity issues. I don't know what account they used but I do know which LIVE accounts I used.

Pipaholic
2 more Stoplosses, looks like this one has run out of steam. Not sure if I'm going to continue or not. I'm now back down into my original investment
Rio
A small stoploss hit on EURUSD, and one USDCAD trade that is still open. I'll only consider pulling shocker if it ends the month 30 pips in the red. At the moment, my account is back in the black, but may not get much profit from the rest of this week. I mean, last month was a really good month for shocker. This month was a wasted opportunity. Lots of good trades wiped out by 7 full SL hits. I mean, last month was a really good month for shocker. This month was a wasted opportunity. Lots of good trades wiped out by 7 full SL hits. I'm planning on doing the same. It'll take more than one bad month to get me to pull Shocker. I had the same small loss EURUSD and USDCAD trades today, along with three EURUSD and one GBPUSD T/P. Overall, a profitable day. Rio
At least we now know just how many full SL hits Shocker can take in a month before we actually lose money for the month. I'd say any more than 7 full hits and the month will be in drawdown. Last month there were only 2 SL hits and I made more than 10% on my account. This month, probably the worst month so far, but still no lost money.... hopefully the next few days will bring in more pips and get a small profit for the month. Hagar1713006266
OK - now I am beginning to lose patience with this EA, another 2 SL hits on GPUSD X-(
Rio
Same here. This puts shocker in a net negative for the month. Not a huge net negative... but frustrating to say the least. Shocker should be able to produce a consistant monthly profit, and if it's not doing that then it's on the way out. What we need in our trading is an average monthly profit of at least 10%, otherwise why even bother?
Chip4Pips
After the S/L early in the week, I temporarily shut off all of my EAs including the Shocker. Markets are acting unpredictably right now due to the Eurozone crisis and these scalpers can't seem to handle the added volatility in the late North American afternoon. The question for me will be when to turn them back on....
Rio
There was a point last month where I was up 15% in my Shocker trading. I should have then just turned the EAs off for the rest of the month and I would have been in profit :(

I should have then just turned the EAs off for the rest of the month and I would have been in profit :( Now that is the real problem, how do you know when it will be good and when it won't, I turned it off last week, mostly because of uncertainty in Greece. And now I don't know when to turn it back on. Oh well, maybe I'll just leave it off for another week. see what happens.
