Hi Guys,

Please be patient with me here, as I'm not even sure I am using the correct terms.

I have been running EA's for a while, but never looked at the code they use (ex4/mq4?).

I'm curious to know and learn more. Can any programmers out there tell me (a complete beginner) where I should start?

Which free decompiler is simple/effective to use? I'd like to see the guts of the EA I'm using so I can understand it more. I don't expect to write my own - yet @-)

Advice warmly welcomed. Thanks! :-bd

OK, I've now found MQL editor, in Tools tab and can see within mq4 files. It's a start. How can I see into an ex4 file? I want to look at the code in my EA but it's ex4.

I'm teaching myself a bit here :"> let me know if I'm in the wrong direction will you? haha

I've now found a decompiler (ex4 to mq4). I'm going to try that next.

Re: How to see the EA code? Which free decompiler is best?

Thanks bbrain, you're a star. ;) I will read over those sites.

I tried the download of ex4 to mq4 that I found, but I can't get it to work.

Do you know of a free decompiler, or is there no such animal ?

If you could give me the name of one, I may find an 'educated' version somewhere to play with.

Thanks

M
