softwares are tools in the end, how you apply them is the art. Most of the softwares you asked like updata, optuma will give you a way to do backtesting using your ideas but no one will generate ideas for you. once you have an idea, then you can use these tools/softwares to back test and verify how they performed in past. Ofcourse, past performance is not guaranteed in future but nothing is guaranteed in future, so atleast back tested strategy is much better than random, atleast thats what i think. enjoy
