Unfortunately, now that Adobe has discontinued their browser based .swf player, this is the only working flash player I have found.

There are are a few apps that can convert .swf to other video formats but the Options University videos have some sort of defect that prevents that.

I had downloaded flash player before it was removed from adobe site

Hi Guys. Just an idea but maybe its worth starting a new thread called Fixing SWF Flash files.

If I remember correctly there have been a number of video series that have been made with flash or converted to flash.

As new or newly interested members find these downloads on the forum they will run into the same problem?

TRAD3R.GURU, Do you happen to have any versions before release 29? I read some place there is a mission impossible self destruct mechanism in the last few versions that causes problems for some people, although I have not tested this myself.

"I trust swf format could be played in freeware VLC Player"

I cannot play these .swf videos with VLC, you're saying you're getting audio and video with it?

Yes, audio and video both working well. Right click on swf file, select option 'Open with....' and force open with VLC Player, it works at my end Win10 64 bit, VLC latest version.

do you still have the last version of flash installed? Latest version of VLC did not work this end (audio only and you can't skip around).

I can imagine some setup in a VM with any number of players and one of the previous salvaged Flash versions working - I might have to do that for now. The debugger from adobe works but it don't have a stop, play, pause button fast forward or position select.

Is there a self sufficient program that does not require the adobe flash install?

I tried a couple of these including Ruffle (application and chrome plugin) and Lightspark

The chrome extension just keep trying to download a file already downloaded and Lightspark did not work

I did not do it on a clean build, which maybe why I was having problems.

Someone else might have better luck with the methods above.

I use Wimpy FLV Player to play swf videos, it's pretty lightweight and easy to use.

I think it's more user friendly than adobe flashplayer.

I found a stable Adobe .swf codec and flash movie player (that you can pause, stop, etc.)

The codec may make some flash video converters work again too, haven't tried that yet.

Flash Movie Player w-Active-X Codec:

P.S. - Looks like the latest version of Flash Movie Player (2.0) has a built-in .swf codec so the aforementioned Adobe installer is not needed to play the videos.
