The specialists expect loonie to weaken due to declining commodity prices and no Bank of Canada’s interest rate hike this year. Brent crude oil has so far tested the levels below $90 a barrel and Capital Economics forecasts it to end the year at $85 a barrel, while “business investment prospects already look less sure than a month ago.” In addition, the recent revision to mortgage rules in Canada is likely to curb housing activity which accounts for a considerable share of the nation’s GDP.
