CableRun GBPUSD similar EA - good performer

Recommended Posts

Hello,

This EA is called 4_6_GMT_Breakout and it runs on GBPUSD M15 with good performance stats. I've been told it is similar to the Cable Run and you can compare the signals from backtest and forward tests.

Everything is included in the zip archive including backtest reports, manual (russian), and the best .set files. Please post your experience with it.

Archive, which you received when purchasing Adviser 4-6 GMT Breakout contains:

Councilor 4-6 GMT Breakout.ex4

This file - Installation Recommendations Advisor 4-6 GMT Breakout.ex4 (word 97-2003).

Reports on the work of the expert with the chosen parameters (see the report string "Parameters")

Settings *. set on the original terms of strategy and optimized (default settings adviser registered for a 4-digit DC's original strategy. If you want to trade for optimal settings, or you have a 5-digit DC - load necessary settings from the folder, the resulting backup archive set_nastroiki)

Installing Adviser to the terminal Metatrader 4:

1) Councilor 4-6 GMT Breakout.ex4 placed in the folder "C: \ Program Files \ <Agent> \ experts \" (where the broker - the name of your DC (for example Forex4you or Metatrader 4 - <name of the broker>))

2) Then start Terminal Metatrader 4

3) Choose the "Navigator" - "advisers" - to be 4-6 GMT Breakout

4) Drag it to the chart of the currency pair - GBPUSD (M15)

5) In the general tab, put a tick Adviser - "Allow live trading"

6) On the toolbar there is a button "advisers" - it should click, so it was pressed down and there was a green dot instead of red.

7) If you do everything correctly, then after installing adviser to the chart, you will show 4-6 GMT Breakout and a number of smiling faces.

8) you press on its face 2 times and in the center of MT4 you get a window with settings adviser.

Options Advisor:

Lot = 0; - Lot size (if 0 - is calculated from automatically setting MaxRisk = ...)

MaxRisk = 2 / -% of orders are set free funds (for the calculation of the lot),

Ie If the parameter Lot = 0, then the lot size is calculated by the formula:

The size of the lots to open = Integer of (Free * MaxRisk/100/One_Lot/Step) * Step

Free-Free Funds on deposit (not involved in the trade)

MaxRisk - the percentage of available funds

One_Lot - The amount of free capital required to open a lot (margin)

Step-step change in the unit size (eg 0,01 or 0,1 - depending on the broker)

GMTShift = 1; - Time Offset broker with respect GMT (year-round does not change, regardless of the transfer clock to daylight saving time!)

StartTime = "04:00"; - Pick-up interval (the time of the terminal)

EndTime = "05:59"; - Return time interval (the time of the terminal)

DelTime = "8:30"; - Hour delete pending orders (time GMT)

MAPeriod = 100; - Period moving average

DeltaUp = 7; - Offset to install BUYSTOP orders

DeltaDown = 5; - Offset to install SELLSTOP orders

TakeProfit1 = 30; - Teykprofit for a warrant (if 0 - then do not set).

TakeProfit2 = 75; - Teykprofit for 2 orders (if 0 - then do not set).

StopLoss = 20; - stoploss (if 0 - is not set, -1 box size)

Trall = 0; - Size 2 trailing stop orders (if 0 - then the trailing stop is disabled)

ShowWarn = true; - prompts the user warning and error conditions, why has not been modified or open warrant.

Magic = 20100206; - Magik room (can be changed in order to warrant one currency pair do not intersect, if the Advisor trades in different time intervals)

NOTE:

Settings are optimized for DC to GMT +1 (Forex4you, Alpari), if your DC time, for example, GMT +2 (in winter), the parameter GMTShift; need to register = 2!

For brokers (like Alpari) with five-digit quotes must increase the following parameters in 10 times:

DeltaUp = 7х10 = 70 - offset to install BUYSTOP orders

DeltaDown = 5x10 = 50 - offset to install SELLSTOP orders

TakeProfit1 = 25h10 = 250; - Teykprofit for a warrant (if 0 - then do not set).

TakeProfit2 = 75h10 = 750 - Teykprofit for 2 orders (if 0 - then do not set).

StopLoss = 20x10 = 200; - stoploss (if 0 - is not set, -1 box size)

Or download the necessary adjustments to the advisor of the received file folder set_nastroiki/5_znachnie_DC

This is ripoff EA

thesecret,

Could you share this EA so we can run some backtests on it? Or if you have some backtests on it that you did could you post those? I get a hunch that this EA might be similar to the one posted with the possible exception that the one posted really performs well IMHO. A comparison would be great to see another possible breakout concept.

Thanks

For further reading materials, the strategy is based on the following thread at Forex Factory:

Specifically this post:

Lots of good stuff posted there.

Chip4Pips,

Great links. Thank you for shedding some light on the origin of the concept. I don't have version 2.2 (some people have requested it here) but I cant imagine being that much different than v 2.0. The concept more than likely stayed the same. Just a comment. Looking at the CableRun GBPUSD especially now that the concept is revealed one can see similar trades. Maybe not identical but both are breakout EAs for sure and look at the same time period to establish the breakout channel. If someone runs across v 2.2 pls post it. This is not a get rich in few days EA but it is a steady performer and making steady slow profit with extremely low risk.

Cheers

I'm VERY interested to see what the skilled testers on this forum can come up with regarding good set files for the Breakout Pro version. It seems like a pretty flexible tool.

There has also been some discussion on other boards about the 4-6 breakout time period not necessarily being the optimum breakout period for the GBPUSD, as well, so there is much to investigate with these EAs.

This strategy works well only for 2009 till now. backtest before 2009 is terrible

Very true. I am not sure if this is because the data since before 2009 the data is stored with very few ticks per bar by MT4 to save space. On the other hand the above posted EA (http://depositfiles.com/files/57odidm2y) does well from 2001 til now. However even though it is an almost identical concept looking at the code.. it does the breakout calculations trades at different times than the 4-6 GMT EA. It is rather difficult to tell which one will perform better live. The only way to find out is to try them both and see.

Cheers

Seems that 4-6 gmt breakout is better then Cable Run.

See the backtest of Cable Run from profitablefx page and a backtest with 4-6 gmt breakout on forex-tests.com

In both cases the profit is the same but the Maximal drawdown in case of Cable Run is 5 time bigger. In case of 4-6 gmt breakout DD is 10 and in case of Cable Run is 50

Backtests results are here:
