Re: (REQ) Swap Collector 2

I just came across this on the internet.

It seems quite interesting - grid trading and making money from positive swap at the same time.

If anyone has it then please share it.

Here's information from an expired ebay advertisement:

THE FOREX SWAP COLLECTOR

VERSION 2

The Forex Swap Collector version 2 is a time based EA.Version 2 lays a trade every 8 hours so you have 3 trades a day.Based on the amount of orders you set,the Ea will continue to place trades each day until your set amount is reached. For example I use version 2 to trade 4 pairs which I will share upon purchase. I sell 2 pairs and buy 2 pairs and set the orders for 60 trades thus taking 20 days of the month to build my grid of trades.Everyday I am paid positive swap on my 4 pairs.

Thats one way to collect some cash but as the grid is building and trades are placed the movement of price on some days will favor the trades and profit will build for each trade. When and if you are happy with your overall profit you can close everything and take your profit and start the cycle over.

I use a 100 pip target when I'm not trading for long term swap and I can realize a good profit in days.I will close the cycle when I'm happy with my ROI, then reload to start another cycle. The goal of Swap Collector is to build the bottom line with your trades while your collecting positive swap, then take your profit and start again. There are many pairs that fit well in a basket and can give you great swap.If you're in a drawdown then you wait for price to come back but you collect the swap while your waiting.

Q: In order to make about $8000 in 17 days, how much did you invest to your trading account? Thanks!

A: My deposit was $10,000 on April 30 2008.I had .1 lots on 4 pairs per trade until June 9th.I changed that to .6,.55,.50,.40 and on June 16th had $705.32 in swap and $7661.44 from the placed trades.I also had a DD of $1356 and plus swap of $181.40. I closed the trades by midnight Jume 19th for a profit of $6913.51.

Re: (REQ) Swap Collector 2

it has been reported that this EA is the same as terminator.

does anyone have the terminator v4.1 ?

can anyone confirm this rumour?

Re: (REQ) Swap Collector 2

there's only so much i can gain from the website, youre right angelgirl a manual (or detailed instruction) would be great.

i dont think it can be backtested either; am i correct in thinking that?

Re: (REQ) Swap Collector 2

Is there still no manual? Please...

Also some feedback on anyone testing it would be appreciated.

I'm concerned about what would happen in a strong trend if you

are in an opposite trade. Some of this must be covered in the

Manual which is why we really need it.

Thanks

Re: (REQ) Swap Collector 2

This is a pretty solid trading concept. I traded this strategy some 3 years ago on Oanda. The advantage is that Oanda gives you interest by the second instead of swap and that you're not restricted to lots, you can buy or sell as low as 1 unit of a given currency pair. Plus, back then, the interest rate differentials were a lot better than they are now. I was using a basket of 10 currency pairs, hedging each other, using only ~10% of the available margin in total. I didn't have a grid of trades, but a single trade on each currency. Having backtested the risk (manually), everything worked absolutely great, I made quite a bunch of money, but eventually the first signs of the crisis showed up (first housing news with the decrease) and my currency basket went all haywire on me, leading to a margin call, even though, given those currencies, something like that never ever happened before in forex history.

My point is: be very very careful when trading something like this. It can happen that your grid trades are profitable, sure, but it can also happen that for example you have many short trades on EURUSD around 1.25 or whatever it was in March and have fun waiting til it gets back there, if you don't get a margin call already. Assuming you had only EURUSD open short at 1.25, you'd need a few years worth of swap to cover such a minus if EURUSD floats around 1.4. Even though my example is extreme, it can and it will eventually happen that the market goes badly against you and when it happens there are 2 options: either you get a margin call, or, if you managed risk carefully, you'll be stuck with your trades for a long time; granted, swap will still gather in your account, but given my calculations of the current market conditions, I think you can get at most 10-15% per year from swap without risking too much, so all you'd have is blocked money with an interest 3-5 times better than a banks' interest but with a risk over 100 times higher.

Re: (REQ) Swap Collector 2

Almost forgot, if you want some currency pairs with positive swap, here you go:

AUD/JPY

Buy swap: 3.3849

Sell swap: -5.3206

AUD/USD

Buy swap: 3.3067

Sell swap: -5.1597

EUR/AUD

Buy swap: -6.8491

Sell swap: 4.1094

EUR/CHF

Buy swap: 0.5479

Sell swap: -3.5616

EUR/HUF

Buy swap: -26.4085

Sell swap: 19.5649

EUR/JPY

Buy swap: 0.2671

Sell swap: -3.5612

EUR/TRY

Buy swap: -25.0709

Sell swap: 18.2211

EUR/USD

Buy swap: 0.1370

Sell swap: -3.2877

NZD/USD

Buy swap: 1.5764

Sell swap: -3.4773

USD/DKK

Buy swap: -3.3497

Sell swap: 0.5728

USD/INR

Buy swap: -8.2875

Sell swap: 3.2309

USD/MXN

Buy swap: -11.1936

Sell swap: 6.1211

USD/PLN

Buy swap: -7.0679

Sell swap: 4.4851

USD/THB

Buy swap: -5.4445

Sell swap: 0.3777

USD/TRY

Buy swap: -18.8263

Sell swap: 13.7581

USD/ZAR

Buy swap: -15.009

Sell swap: 9.9394

Note: these are from Oanda since I have a script that automagically updates the rates and calculates them. The swap is in EUR. The values are for 100000 units of the base currency (1 MT4 standard lot) for 24 hours, basically calculated to be similar to the swap. They will definitely be different for your MT4 broker, most brokers having them listed on their site (typically in USD). The big problem is that you won't find the most swap "lucrative" exotic pairs on most MT4 brokers, I don't think I've ever seen EURHUF in MT4.

As you can see, not much opportunity to hedge (for pretty much all majors you have to go long AUD)... As an added downside, the spread on the exotics is pretty ugly, even on Oanda, so you would start at a -15 up to -40 pips as soon as you open a trade there.
