eqqismar Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 Each has advantages and disadvantages, depending on trader’s personal trading style, execution speed and maybe risk tolerance. Which is better in your opinion? Quote

polaris Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 Re: Tick charts or minute charts? minute is ore reliable as with any longer timeframe Well, I don't think that eqqismar necessarily meant a 1-tick chart, but tick charts in general, as 89, 233 or whatever ticks. So I wouldn't subscribe that statement that a minute chart is more reliable. Sometimes trends are easier spotted in tick charts. Furthermore indicators often work a lot better in charts that are not time based. Also have a look at range and renko bars! But as you said, it all depends on personal preference. In my opinion there is no better or worse. Quote
mtaufik Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 Re: Tick charts or minute charts? Ticks form minutes, hours, weeks and months, so ticks is the real market and minutes, hours, weeks and months are in the past... Quote The market does not beat them. They beat themselves
manganate Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Re: Tick charts or minute charts? Tick data is only useful in a real-time environment. It is less than useless in back testing because it moves dramatically up and down within the M1 time frame. Different brokers will have different tick data, so different things can happen within a M1 time frame, depending on the broker. That is why it can be difficult to compare broker against broker. Complete M1 data will only show the OHLC, which should be common to all brokers for that currency (unless it has been manipulated :-? ). Quote When mind lingers in one place efficiency is lost
Newbie123 Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Re: Tick charts or minute charts? In my opinion, they are good for scalping but the FX brokers make it very hard with the big spread :( Quote
pvyas Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Re: Tick charts or minute charts? I agree with the fact they are good for scalping, and there is alot of broker manipulation. Quote

jinhar Posted August 14, 2009 Report Posted August 14, 2009 Re: Tick charts or minute charts? if you are scalping ticks are way better but if you are swing trading or trading for anything greater then 10-15 mins a move minute charts are much better. Quote

xtclove Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Re: Tick charts or minute charts? I love using tick on NT :D way better for scalping compared to meta Quote
LuckyLuke2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Report Posted July 7, 2011 The best it to get good tick data and make your own tick charts for MT4. problem with FX is that every intermediary have their own price and there is really no one 'correct price' all just depends on what ladder of the feed you are. Quote
LuckyLuke2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Report Posted July 7, 2011 I agree, NT is better than MT4 in many ways. But one can also use any custom tick charts on MT4 just need the correct tools! Quote
