This program is very old and I thought it would

be around this forum.

 

Download the trial from

hxxp://www.trading-tools.com/downloads/rtqdownloader.zip

Install the trial version.

 

Replace the files in the installation directory with the ones provided

here:

For ASCII files:

Download -> Options

File Format - Check A custom defined file format Option box.

Define custom file formats

 

I dont know if the ascii file updates in real time.

But the free data from Yahoo is delayed by 15 minutes, any help

The only free data available in RT that can be

transfered to other programs is for forex.

At least that I know of.

 

I havent seen yet a subscription data feed

internet based cracked.

 

People that I knew claimed

that they had RT with a satellite dish

installed at home for free which is

something from the past.

You only need this part to update in RTH for US markets in metastock format.

 

How to update MetaStock charts automatically?

Following steps are necessary to update one or more charts in MetaStock automatically:

•Set up MetaStock into No Vendor position.

•Make sure that the option "Automatically update MetaStock chart" in theDownload->Options dialog is on.

•Start "MetaStock Professional Offline Mode"

•Open the charts you want to display. e.g.: By default RTQDownloader stores thequotes of the Dow Jones Index in the "C:\MetaStock\DOW 30" directory.

•Start RTQDownloader and select the "Dow 30.mld" list for updating. In couple of seconds renewal of charts should start.

•The update function is not limited to the "Dow 30" symbol list. You can use asmany symbol lists as you want

 

Then Download -> Options -> Automatically update portfolio every (check box) and set it to 1 second.

This is the best you can get besides F5 to update quotes.

 

Since I am a discretionary position trader I prefer www.freestockcharts.com

for US and Canada markets.The data comes from the BATS exchange and

some values are estimated.Data can not be exported it is only for charting

purposes (no backtesting).

Can RTQDownloader be linked to MetaTrader (MT4)? As far as I know, MT4 is primarily used for Forex trading, but I was wondering if it will work with stock data from a link to RTQDownloader. Has anyone used MT4 for trading or analyzing stock?

Yes, analyzing stocks (ETFs) but only through russian broker BROCO, which unfortunately is closed. Looking for a broker myself, but could not find one yet that offers stocks and commodities within MT4.
