marketrulez got a reaction from martis in ways to speed up nt 7 performance with 8GB of RAM
As he said he is having 4th Gen I7 4500U and I have 4th Gen I7 as well and I have checked the performance of Win 8.1 Vs Win 10, though both works fine for normal usage, once you open multiple applications Win 10 kind of starts to slow down (on the old processors), hence I went back to Win 8.1, also I could control the running processes much easily there. Win 8.1 does not have much flashy stuff compared to Win 10 which helps as well. If one has latest Gen processors like 7th or 8th gen it is ok to be on Win 10 (also for latest components, it is tough to get drivers for Win 8.1 otherwise I would prefer Win 8.1 there also, it is kinda my preference, as I dont like flashy stuff, which helps in speeding up things, by keeping it optimized).

marketrulez got a reaction from martis in ways to speed up nt 7 performance with 8GB of RAM
Few things to do:
1. Primary drive where you install OS and NT7 should be an SSD
2. Increase the RAM to 16 GB (32 is not really required, but however check your usage now and upgrade to 16/32GB)
3. Dump Windows 10 and go to Windows 8.1 64 bit as you are having 4th Gen I7 4500U, this itself will speed up a lot (also disable updates, important updates install them manually)
4. Under performance settings -> adjust for best performance
5. Have simple theme, no flashy stuff.
6. Disable unnecessary processes running or which starts during bootup, basically optimize

marketrulez reacted to wcicom in [Req] - Gamma Scalping - Options Course?
I have been a floor option trader, when there still "floors" :D, for about nine years. Most of those strategies described in many option books will only work if you have an edge, like floor traders used to have. Commissions, slippage and many other variables will prevent retail trader from implementing those strategies profitably. Only about half a dozen of option strategies will make sense once you realize what is involved in putting on a complex option position. With that said I am not implying that it's not worth learning options in depth....it is, but for a different reason. The better you understand mechanics of options the easier you will be able to substitute complex position with relatively simple one - with a profit and risk profile very close to original option strategy.
Good luck !!

And just to be complete if some of you are still interested, here you are a new portable version of cr-acked CandleScanner, that I am using now.
The portable version I posted some weeks ago still writes data into "Documents" folder, this one writes also those data into the "Portable" folder

Thanks :)
as an update of what I wrote here: I didn't succeed in changing registry keys in a virtual environment, so I am using this method directly on my PC and it is working.
To be more clear of what someone has to do here it is the steps to have all the ingredients of the recipe:
1. run regedit.exe (I hope it is not a problem, search in Google how you can do it)
2. navigate the Registry and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DESCRIPTION\System\CentralProcessor\0
3. right click on it, choose Export and save it as originalkey.reg; then close regedit (be careful not to do strange things in Regedit)
4. open the reg file using Notepad and delete what is not necessary, leaving only these lines
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DESCRIPTION\System\CentralProcessor\0] "ProcessorNameString"="here you will have your own string, to be changed periodically"
5. make a copy of your originalkey.reg and call it newkey.reg
6. open newkey.reg using Notepad and change what is in your string (I mean after the = sign)
7. save it
8. locate where config.dat is (the one in C:\Users\....\AppData\Roaming\CandleQuote\....., there is another one in Documents\.... but it has other purposes and must not be deleted)
9. at this point you have all you need.
10. Go to the installation folder and copy newkey.reg, originalkey.reg there
11. Open Notepad and create a text file with this content (customize line 2)
regedit /s: reads the reg file and modifies accordingly the Registry without asking for permission
del/Q: delete a file without asking for permission
12. save the file as CandleQuote.cmd
13. create a link to the desktop
14. launch CandleQuote.cmd
15. What it does automatically is changing the registry key, then deleting the config.dat file, then launching CandleQuote, and then (when CandleQuote is closed) restoring the originalkey in the Registry
Pure and touching as little as possibile.
PS
I can post the portable I am using if you are interested ;)

marketrulez reacted to ⭐ gadfly in Market Geometry Mentoring Sessions by Timothy Morge
Did a 30 Day Breakfast with the Master with Tim Morge trial subscription. It was a waste of $$, not worth 1/3rd of what he charged. No live trading as promised, just a lot of vague market analysis that you had to try to make sense of. He may be a great trader, who knows, but he's a lousy teacher. -
