It's slow and steady....and not aggressive... and some testing reveals that it will survive pretty much anything thrown at it.

It will get you about 5% a month... which if you are talking about EAs, is quite good... although some of kalinkas other EAs will get you about 10% on average with a more advanced hedging and averaging technique.

With pyramid 8, You can see that it took a little over a year to double the account though.

Putting it into perspective... if you have $1000, can you wait 10 years? ;)

    1. $2000
    2. $4000
    3. $8000
    4. $16000
    5. $32000
    6. $64000
    7. $128000
    8. $256000
    9. $512000
    10. $1024000

or maybe if you start with $10,000

    1. $20,000
    2. $40,000
    3. $80,000
    4. $160,000
    5. $320,000

..at which point you're making $160,000 a year which may be enough for you to quit your work.

No, Pyramid 8 is not XE. Both have similar trading strategy, but Pyramid 8 is different enough to be safer and less profitable.

In Pyramid 8? Pyramid 8 is a rewrite of 5.2 (and XE essentially). You can't use the same set files. Reason is that Pyramid 8 uses MAs to place averaging orders and lock orders... so it is actually more reliant on indicators, and indeed the settings have more entries for this more fine grained control.

As was said, the only preset file that it comes with is one for the EURUSD. If you want to run it on two pairs, you need to somehow generate presets for GBPUSD by optimizing the settings on GBPUSD data and cut the risk on both pairs down to 1.5%

Otherwise Pyramid 8 uses a similar strategy to Pyramid 8. If you've toyed with XE for long enough, you'll recognise what it's doing more or less, as it is essentially the same but with more intelligent lock/averaging trading.

Also, Magellan v4 got an update recently. No new set files as far as I can tell, and they haven't bumped the version. I wonder what changed?

    from the website:-

    Recommended leverage: not below 1:200.
Recommended minimal deposit: 500 USD/cent for 0,01 (Insta Forex lot 0,10) for each currency pair.
Profitability: around 50% per month, or up to 850% per year with re-investment of gained profit.

Personally I would stick to the XE2.2 rules, and use $1500 minimum per pair.
Note that Pyramid 8 has settings for only the EU at 3% risk. No GBPUSD settings exist AFAIK
As I have not tested Pyramid 8 as much as I should, I can't really comment further. Do your own demoing.

I agree, that Pyramid XE is a little more "holistic" in the sense that it doesn't use much in the way of indicators, but currently Magelan v4 has kept it's promise of under 30% drawdown even recently as two pairs are getting smashed around by the USD weakening. This is less drawdown than I have ever seen from Pyramid XE, with more profit.

I do get a bit upset when I see some of the trades Magelan takes though. It's taken a recent USDCAD sell trade which has not closed out for ages, which for me would have been a BUY signal and paid out much quicker.

Up to you. I guess for safety's sake, use Pyramid 8... although I haven't tested that educated code much, so I would advise demoing it.

It won't compile without warnings... check the code out, they coded it in such a way to break the decompiler. There's one line that's expecting a number and there's a date in there.

Magelan is safer and more profitable per month. It's not a hard decision. Only thing I don't like about it is that it's trend following trade signals aren't that good. I'd like to hack it up and replace the trading signals with something I think would work better, while keeping the hedging strategy.

As for Pyramid 8... I ran it side by side with XE2.2, and XE2.2 came out more profitable. That said, Pyramid 8 uses less leverage and is much much safer and kinder on drawdown, at the cost of being less profitable.

Why don't some of you guys try optimising it's inputs on different pairs? I take it that it only needs a year worth of data to optimize over.

Maybe you can share your settings with me? I think I've shared quite a bit already.

Here it is, at last. I tested it for long enough and it seems to work just like v2.1, or at least I can't see any problems. There are no changes in the strategy. The code was simply fixed and cleaned up some more to compile on build 500 and above. Also I added a display for the leverage on the chart.
In fact if you want to study the code, it should be a lot easier now that the variables all make some sense.

If you're running XEv2.1 then you should be able to drop XEv2.2 in it's place and have it take over with all your trades. (Don't forget to apply your presets again!)

Don't forget to say thanks! This effort took a fair bit of work.

PS. The EA racked up over 10% this month on my live account. (Max drawdown was around 25%)

    http://www.4shared.com/zip/IViBLvrH/pyxev22.html

A rather lengthy and detailed manual text file is contained in the package which goes into heavy detail about everything I know about the EA, how it works, and exactly how to use it. Please read and do sufficient testing in demo before running this EA live.

This EA is a hacked EA and of course, cannot come with any warranty if you lose money because you can't use it properly.
Of course, I cannot be held responsible if it makes you a boatload of money either. :P

I just found this EA which is a trade copier as you understand from the name. After trying CopyTool that was shared here too, I find this one much more flexible and easy to use. It can handle partial closes and reverse trades. I don't know which version this is but I've tried it on W7 and it works fine. I found a request for a crack on this forum almost 2 years old, so I thought I would open a new thread. Hope someone will like it :)

Just PM me if you want to chat.

Pyramid collected up a lot of trade stops yesterday as the GBPUSD just kept dropping. Already it has about five floor stops available to it at 0.02, 0.03, 0.05, 0.09, and 0.15 lot sizes. 10% drawdown on the account. This is about as tough as it gets for Pyramid to handle. You don't often see it give much more than 10% drwdown. Given my tech analysis though, I think a GBPUSD reversal is imminent. Meanwhile all the floor stops are collecting swap. Even a slight retracement in the market is going to flip the drawdown back to zero.

Which myfxbook are you referring to? I need more info to comment.

Yes, the risk for a pair is 0.22 by default in Pyramid. I only run it on one pair, but I believe that it is possible to run pyramid on two pairs simultaneously if you have enough equity. You may also wish to spread the risk between the pairs (0.11 risk per pair).

Equity can be a problem however, as the EA doesn't really tell you if you have enough equity or not. You may find that you end up with one pair trading, and a second pair not hedging and spitting out errors (not good!)

I believe that you will need much more than $3000 to run two pairs even at half risk. You have to understand that the floor stop is calculated based on an expression of total equity (I think), so with two pairs going, the EA can end up getting confused.

Nope. It looks interesting, as does Trend Raptor, but I wouldn't have a hope of educating it.
Their newer EAs have dll security, and I don't have a decompiler that works on latest builds of MT4.
Unfortunately, I am not smart enough to break dlls. If somebody IS smart enough to break DLLs and has latest version of mql4 decompiler, they should contact me.
Then if somebody sends me the EA, perhaps we can coordinate an education!
Pyramid is good in the sense that it isn't all that smart and can just hedge, so the market can't find ways to kill it like they can scalpers like Megadroid. Seems like soft4forex new bots have some "secret" sauce that they don't want to unleash which is why they keep the license count down.

Of their EAs I educated Pyramid, Cash Hammer v3, and Lucky Candles v3. Some people were kind enough to ask me to educate them.
Pyramid is better than than the other two. All of them are hedging EAs. You can probably find download links for Lucky Candles and Cash Hammer in II if you search hard enough.... but in my experience, Pyramid has the better strategy. They don't even offer Lucky Candles anymore.
The latest version of Pyramid 8.01 seems to have been a fork of the 5.2 code to make it trade differently, which is why they still offer 5.2

I like their EAs because they are safe to use,... even if they don't make as much money as you would like every month.

The EA starts up by guessing the trend. It does this using MAs.

Then it picks a direction and throws trade stop orders in a grid fashion in front of price. Once a trade stop order hits take profit, it will trigger another trade stop in the same direction.
The EA then calculates a price to set a floor stop in the opposite direction with a larger lot size. This has a "locking" effect on all open orders. If the current open trade misses take profit and falls back, it will trigger the floor stop and if it goes back far enough, the floor stop will be more in profit to cover the loss caused by the open trade stop. At this point the EA closes both buy and sell orders in a profit... clearing the board. Otherwise price will continue to move and collect trade stop orders and profit, and the EA will try again to set another floor stop, larger again in line with equity to achieve a lock.

So it doesn't matter which way price goes, there will always be profit.

The only thing that can kill the EA is if it runs out of equity making floor stops.. but this is highly unlikely. In any market, price has to retrace because the market dealer will need to offload all the funds he issues out during a trend at different price points. When that occurs in our EA, even a slight retracement will be enough to clear out all open orders.

The original version is being sold by soft4forex. I like their EAs.
Good luck trying to educate them though. The security is very high. I nearly wasn't able to break Pyramid 5.2

People asked me, so here's the link to the EA I am using live. I educated it myself and it's been tested on a live account for months, so I am confident in it.

    http://www.4shared.com/zip/-SODDALC/pyea52xe.html

The EA is not sensitive to time, and does not care about trading sessions or GMT offsets. It will keep trades open over the weekend too (usually a manual trading no-no), and trade through NFP. It is a 24/7 EA. Like I said, it is not smart. It just hedges the market with pyramid trading and averages out losing trades so that your balance doesn't drop. It is usually always got a trade open, so you action junkies will see results fairly quickly.

It uses moving averages on the M30 timeframe to guess the direction of the current trend to place it's stop trade levels. It sometimes gets it wrong (using MAs to judge "trend" is always going to be inaccurate), but it doesn't matter because guess what? It hedges.... so even if it gets it wrong, it can fall back onto it's floor stop and average all the trades out in break-even or profit (or insignificant loss if it gets slipped by the broker).

nice that you can scalp. I just don't see the point when I can grab 30, 50, or more pip moves with high risk because I am accurate.

I suppose if you threw $300K on with this EA, you could live nicely off of it. I'm not trading that much with it (yet!). Manual trading is by far more profitable.

Yes the EA will adjust lot sizes as the account increases in equity. It will take a long time for a $1500 account to hit that point however. You will clearly get better results with $5000+ in your account, but you'll want to run it at the minimum to get a feel for how it works first.

The market is and will always be the same. When we talk of "changing market conditions", the only thing that changes is the average ranges. Aside from that, once you know how to trade, you can trade anything.

If you're trying to scalp, stop. If you're doing this 18 hours a day, you're doing it wrong. You only need a good, accurate move during London or NewYork every day.
If you don't know how to do that, you need education.

The inability to hedge doesn't bother successful manual traders in the USA

I use "Pyramid EA 5.2XE" live on my account.

You can find it in the old Pyramid thread. I educated it some years ago, and it's the best EA I have found after the hundreds of **** ones (Many of which I decompiled and educated off this forum)

It's a really really braindead EA that grid hedges in pyramid fashion to average out losing hedged positions, so it can handle whatever the market throws at it, and will survive any market condition as long as you have the prerequisite equity to run it.

It's only weakness is that it won't handle situations where the markets decide to break WorldBank rules with massive interventions breaking weekly average ranges and not coming back. That's why you run it on major pairs that aren't JPY or CHF pairs (because their corresponding central banks intervene too often.)
Also if you lack the equity and edit the EA and the risk up too high, you could margin yourself out.

While I run it only on one pair, with enough equity and a halving of the risk, you can run it on two.

It's a slow burner. You will not get rich quick off of it, but it is stable and will generate about 10% a month or so.

Yes, if you run it on the MT4 strategy tester it will crash because of the strategy tester's poor non-100% accurate data, but on a live account it's proven low risk (no more than 10% drawdown, usually stays under 5%) and it's been chugging along nicely for me to the point where I don't have to worry about it.

With a large pool of equity and low risk, you could probably live off of this EA.

If you don't know what you're doing, it most certainly is. Trying to "figure out" how to trade by yourself is a grand time-sink. Go find successful traders to learn what they know. That's a better strategy.

I know how to trade manually, and have met people who do so for a living. Manual trading is the get-rich-quick strategy you're after. EAs are for slow and steady investment.... assuming of course, that the EA is not a complete piece of ****.

    Minimum $1500 to start up.
You want a broker that allows microlot (0.01 lots minimum with 0.01 lot step) and hedging. That probably means that USA residents won't be able to find a broker to let them use this EA at all.

Always test in demo before going live. You need to make sure that the EA works on your broker, and that it can average out positions in profit/break-even (when it closes all buy/sell positions). Run for a few weeks on demo until you can verify this behaviour. If you don't see it, maybe you need to tweak the settings or try a different broker. If it won't hedge, it won't work!

Seems to be the best and most stable EA I have tried.

It is not smart at all. It just tries to guess direction of the larger trends, and sets a pile of stop orders in front of itself hoping to catch a few levels. Once it pulls back far enough from the nearest stop order, it will set a floor hedge with slightly larger lot size. If the floor is broken and goes back far enough to nullify the stop order, it will close the hedge out in profit/break-even. It can keep going doing this with multiple floors, but each floor increases the lot size. Eventually if this keeps up long enough, the floor lot size will be quite large and only a small reversal will end up in the hedges being closed out in profit. However with many unclosed floors, your equity gets sucked into drawdown until an opportunity arises for a reversal and the hedges can be averaged out and closed in profit/break-even.

That's why having equity is important with this EA, to keep it alive.
    Drawdown rarely goes over 10%.
Monthly profit on one pair can be anywhere from 5%-10% or even more. The more equity you have above $1500 to push it into using 0.02 stops minimum, the better. This EA loves volatility.

You can try to strategy test this EA, but it will explode an account in the strategy tester. Don't be put off by this, because the MT4 strategy tester sucks and you don't get 100% modelling quality anyway, so it's not even accurate. Many months of live trading on my account says that it doesn't explode. The only thing that will blow it up (should it be working properly in the first place) is trying to overleverage the risk, or some massive stock-market currency crash -- in which case we'll all have bigger problems to worry about!

Certainly beats scalpers (which brokers cheat with on live accounts by shifting the spread to make sure they miss their take-profits and fall back onto their stops.)

In the UK the treasury is so greedy that they refuse to allow (UK Residents) forex spread betting traders to claim their losses trading MT4 Forex market.
Which means that the few traders that win have to keep all their money 100% tax-free. Also, as a business these same traders are allowed to claim VAT on their expenses (currently set @ 20% on this greedy little island) so all in all it is good to live in a country that has a greedy corrupt system.
