  1. I found while tersting that the ATRTrailingStop indicator for Ninja is producing strange plottings. This applies to both V1 and V2 of the indicator. This indicator was mentioned here on II and apparantly some people might use it.

I compared to two other ATR trailing Stop indicators

    1- The N@vi one

    2- From GreatTradingSystems dot com

Please see this chart and draw your own conclusions

If anyone can recommend a good ATR Trailing Stop indicator superior to the two indiators mentioned above?

  2. Yamantaka,

I am sorry to read that you withdraw from the thread you initiated. I would like to thank you for starting the thread and introducing us to the Box.

I can only hope you may reconsider your decision. Please be aware that I respect whatever you decide

  3. Sometimes I have a box (detached, not overlapping) without levels being plotted.

Eventually the trade was stopped out at the top of the box, so although the levels are not plotted, the top of the Box information is available.

  4. When searching the website of the developer, I noticed there are no recent updates to the website and marketing activities around the Box. Anyone any idea why?

I also found out that there is a PPT Trading method consisting of the Box and other elements - including a MAP indicator (predicts price rising and falling in future).

Anyone has materials of the PPT Trading method to share - and especially the MAP?

PS: Ensign software has also a MAP indicator which is developed by Larry Pesavento. This indi makes good predictions, but does not run on NT.

  5. Manually visually checking the log gave me the impression it is worthwhile testing for trades only taken from drawn box at screen. In other words: the market reacts quickly on the formation criteria and only then we would like to take the trade. Just like in real trading: not good to sit in a sideways trade for a very long time. Odds may change and it seems then a flip coin decides where the trade goes.

Also overlapping boxes seem generate less succesfull trades. Why? I have no clue.

  6. Yamantaka,

I have not noticed the slippage you mention. I use the CQG live datafeed as input for SIM. However, I also have DTN datafeed.

For the Market replay test I use the Market Replay data of Marker replay Data Downloade - a website (so no import from Ninja).

All test results are on Market Replay. So I do not use the SIM test as it makes me a millionaire as well like the backtesting.

Please provide me with guidelines as how to spot the slippages so I can better look and provide you with a better answer.

  7. DBZ:

I looked at your suggestion, but I see no relation between VPOC and the box creation. But I am no VPOC guru at Ninja !. Perhaps can you visually see if there is a relationship between the VPOC and the Box? Both seem related to congestion (although a VPOC not always implicate that the market congested there for time).

  8. Meow,

Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunatly it requires me to export EVERY screen individualy for future reference. It is a pity NT has no otrion to save the whole summary/Graphs/Executions/Trades/Periods/Orders with one mouse click and allowing to change views interactively

    Re: Test 3

    1) Are the outside box stops programmed in the code? Yes, );

    2) what is the profit target? First target blue dotted line of the Box indicator set at 168 (original setting)

    3) are you taking secondary trades? Yes.

    4) How many trades were taken during this test? As I do not know how to save the test results I can not answer your question.

    5) Ratio of winners vs. losers? See item 4.

    6) Average profit per Trade (Gross profit divided by number od contracts traded)? See item 4.

    7) Are Rjay bars vers 1 or 2? I do not know.

  10. Trader34:

Thanks for responding to my question. Perhaps I was not clear when asking my question. I meant to ask: what do you do in the case there are no targets plotted at a box? Sometimes a box has no targets plotted. But trades are taken........

  11. Yamantaka:

Question: Some boxes do not display the target levels (e.g. first target is the dotted blue line). How do you handle those for trading? How can you recognize if a box has no targets plotted on the chart? The 27 ticks Stoploss was actually hit at a box with no levels plotted.

  12. Yamantaka:

I assume you are looking for the worst hit stoplosses. I will check the values and let you know.

The easy answer is of course that the stoploss equals the total hight of the box.
