    magrech,

    In the thread you'll find that psaini has already mentioned that he always has a stop level set in his mind rather than physically added to the trade - this is typically between 30 and 40 pips. This is only recommended for experienced and disciplined traders who will take out their trades which are going the wrong way immediately price gets into the "stop zone" they have in mind. Anyone without that discipline will be tempted to let the price "breathe" a bit more and before they know it they're staring at a substantial loss rather than a manageable one - I know I've been there lol.

    Guys,

    I've lumped together most of psaini's trades and screenshots and rules for trading his system and have placed them in a word doc. for ease of reference, it will also save psaini having to answer the same questions over and over:

    Guys, before you test on the lower time frame, please understand that the trigger or signal is generated by slow MACD with settings 24,52,18. Slow MACD works well on higher time frame like H1, H4 and above, for trending pair like EURUSD.

    That is why in manual system, the creator recommended time frame H1 and above.

    As mentioned earlier in this thread, I used it on H1 and modified the first version of the EA with SL and TP to be exactly the same as recommended by the original creator.

    Thanks FX4_Ever for running the back test. Your back test result has added my confidence in this system.

    Hi;
    I am also trying to fine tune settings and still checking out the difference between v1 and v2. To me, v1 is more close to the original manual system than v2. I am not quite sure yet what is the difference and why is the reason that v2 got changed. Also, noticed that some of functions that v1 doesn't work. i.e trailing, etc.
    Using Mangiare' MACD box settings to 20/100/18 on 1 hr TF, back test seem to hold pretty well. More people test to find optimal settings will be helpful to those who can't stay up and trade manually.

    I've change the code slightly and if anyone interested in trying on forward test and post here, you are welcome to it. I made a comparison between v2 and v1 and used some of the code from v2 to v1. However, I am not coder and don't know much about coding. (just enough to be dangerious. :-O ) SO PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT USE IT ON LIVE UNTIL YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY SURE. EVEN THEN, PLEASE SEEK PROFESSIONAL ADV BEFORE YOU USE IT ON LIVE. SERIOUSLY!

    yeah, I agreed with SoundFX. What we have witnessed is part of the amateur's mentality. When one EA failed, they said another EA better and they will drop this EA and move on to another, when this EA started to perform again, they returned and ask for settings, time frame, time to watch for trade etc etc...they simply too lazy to spend time testing and analyzing the results. They simply waiting for someone to place the "food" on their plate.

    Many amateur traders are still searching for the Holy Grail where they expect an EA to win 100% of the trades and not losing a single trade, some could not even tolerate break-even trades. Some can tolerate losing trade but the daily overall result must still be a win. If you have sound money management and still afraid to see one losing trade, you better off putting the money with a bank or buying your own Govt bonds.

    I always believe that good trading result is first based on return of hard work before you can count the return on capital. I've done my due diligent and now trading live with this EA, of course, with some modifications. This EA has locked 300 pips of profit on EURUSD.

    I'm always grateful to SoundFX who has converted the manual system into this EA. You helped me to save plenty of hours to understand the codes in the original indicators file. I'm new to coding indicator files but I will learn.

    Thanks SoundFX.

    Guys,

    I'm too busy with other stuff these days to spend much time on II, however I keep reading posts from folks saying things like "pip acumulator EA is rubbish...XXXX EA is much better" etc.

    Jeez - will you guys ever learn lol.

    I've pointed out several times that PIPA EA was meant to be a joint effort from II members to create a publicly available EA for the benefit of all which is based on a sound and profitable manual trading system.

    There's been little sign of any real interest in developing an EA which will make profits for all, though there are far too many people who are locked into the "testing commercial systems" frame of mind rather than the " we could create something phenomenal" state of mind.

    As I said at the start of the thread, I gave everyone a golden opportunity to help in developing an EA which would be something special. There have been lots of helpful suggestions along the way from non-programmers which is always appreciated, however it only takes a couple of minutes to write down your thoughts, whereas it can take several hours/days or even weeks to create program code which works in the way you want (and there don't seem to be any coders here who are interested :( ).

    I think that my original experiment in truly joint collaboration has failed. I'm not really disappointed because I expected this to happen.

    Feel free to kill off this thread totally and carry on talking about MDP or some other commercial EA lol.

    I am using the default settings or what they "would be" if the TrSl was working properly. that is

    A SL based on the last swing high/low

    A trailing stop of 20 that starts at 22 pips (at this point I set a breakeven profit so the trade can't end up in a loss). In order to achieve this effect I disable all TP/TrSL inputs from the EA (set them to false/0) and let MPTM handle this issue. If somebody can explain to me how to attach files in this forum I can upload the setfiles I'm using for both the EA and the MPTM

    Guys I got the TS working by using MPTM from the forex factory forum.

    download it, paste on your experts folder and attach it to any chart.

    Set TS in PIPA to "false", 0, and 0 respectively and let MPTM handle the trailing by changing the following settings:

    Managealltrades = true

    Breakeven = True
    bREAKEVENpips = 22
    Breakevenprofitpips = 5

    Thats how we move SL to 5 once price gets to 22 profit... Then...

    TrailingStop=True
    UseStandardtrail=True
    TrailingStopPips=20
    TrailAfterBreakevenOnly=True

    That way you'll get the same effect as the defaults on PIPA (which at least for me are not working).

    SoundFx, I beleive in your EA and the whole concept of this thread. I'd like to offer my demo space and myfxbook account to showcase different settings' results. Please sing out which ts/tp/trsl parameters you'd like me to test with the EA from your experience of manual trading this strategy. I'll upload my demos to myfxbook account

    You have the option to change the EA parameters to set whatever stop, target and trailing stop you want. Try out a few different settings - that's what this thread is all about, developing a new EA which works rather than accepting something (normally rubbish) which someone else coded and then sold commercially.

    The latest EA is called II_PIPA_EA2_01a.

    Hermes,

    I've looked at the gif.

    I assume that you're referring to the last 2 EURUSD trades:

    1st Trade (Buy) opened at 09:04 and closed at 09:09 with 13 pips profit.
    2nd Trade (Sell) opened at 15:34 and closed at 15:45 with 13 pips loss.

    These trades are hours apart.

    This version of the EA by default has fixed stop and target which are the same 13 pips, hence losses will always be equal to profits.

    The EA in default settings will trigger long trades when the last arrow was up and probability is > 20 and short trades when the last arrow was down and probability is < -20.

    I have mixed feelings about it. Basically, it is an EX4 file that goes in your custom indicator folder. But, in order to optimize your EA, you have to have traded it from 1 month to 3 months exclusively on your broker. Then it analyzes your history, and makes recommendations. In general, if your EA profit is less than 10%, it recommends that you try another EA. The problem is, many people like me sometimes test 5-40 robots at a time, because a brokerage account is too precious to use on just 1 EA (I know there are exceptions out there, and many of you run "only" 1 EA per brokerage, but I am just saying I would not be able to use this indicator unless I start trading 1 EA per broker) for testing. Then they have a $99 upsell (which can be reduced by refusing), which promises you to give you a "list" of EAs that they approve of, and the perfect settings to use with those "winning/approved" EAs. Now, this feature would be more valuable for me since I have a problem using the first product, as I mentioned above. But, then after buying the "more expensive" upsell, for the "list" of "winning" EAs, with optimization, there is NO list. Their list consists of just 1 EA, which is "Megadroid". But, they explain "after" you make this purchase, that they plan on "adding" to the list, some time in the future!? But, in the mean time, for your $99 upsell, you only get ONE EA, not a "list" of 10 or 20 or 30, winning EAs.... :(

    Hi Guys,

    This EA is based on the manual system which is currently being enhanced, tested and traded in the thread:

    http://indo-investasi.com/showthread.php/14520-Pip-Accumulator

    I started a new thread for the EA, because I think it will be disruptive to the original thread to mix in EA discussions. So, please use this thread for anything related to the EA ;)

    The EA is based on an earlier version of the II Pip Accumulator indicator (without multiple timeframe probabilities) and the code from the indicator has been replicated inside the EA.

    Because the probability indicator which the EA uses operates over multiple timeframes, I don't think we can get accurate backtests, hence the EA will need to be forward tested.

    The EA has various options, though I've not been able to test many of these (I'm sure that there will be plenty of bugs that need fixing if you start using options other than the current settings, so any keen EA developers, please feel free to amend whatever you like and repost it here). However, with the current default settings I'm getting excellent results running the EA on a 5m chart.

    Please post your testing results and findings here, so that we can all work on creating a great "home grown" EA :)

    Here's the most recent version of the EA and indicators (on 26th Sept 2011):

    http://www.multiupload.com/FHMDLQVU7B

    I also recommend that you read through the whole of the manual trading thread, so that you have the full background of where the EA development came from. Plus in the more recent posts you'll be able to download the most recent versions of the indicators II_Pip_Accumulator and II_Prob_Hist.

    Here's a screen shot of what the indicators look like (I have these on the chart when running the EA, so that I can clearly see when and why the EA is making its decisions):

    Hermes,

    The II_Pip_Accumulator indicator has various settings and some have to work in real-time. This is because it's impossible to look back at candles in multiple timeframes.

    Consider a simple "All TF" probability made up of 5m and 15m signals which is displayed on your 5m chart. If we look back four 5m candles in history then this equates to looking back two 15m candles - however the historical data for the 15m candle doesn't allow us to determine price or indicators at a certain time point in the bar - ideally we'd need MT4 to read two 15m candles back but to then read the value of price and indicators 1/3 of the way into that 15m candle which isn't possible.

    Hence, the upshot of this is that any of the entry signal parameters associated with probability (which works in MTF) will have to start drawing the boxes from the time you attach the indicator to the chart. The indicator II_Prob_Hist works in the same way too.

    Here's the latest version of the II_Pip_Accumulator indicator which was posted in the manual trading thread recently (a lot of the background on these indicators can be found in that thread too):

    http://www.multiupload.com/551RY7DL95

    I've also updated the page 1 link with the most recent version of the EA (excluding hsafx's fix which I've not been able to test as yet) and all indicators.

    For Arrow/Box determination there are 5 possible settings:

    ArrowMACDx = Arrow/Box on MACD cross
    ArrowMACD0 = Arrow/Box when MACD crosses 0 line
    ArrowProb = Arrow when probability is > or < defined limits
    ArrowMACDxProb = Arrow with MACD cross and probability > or < defined limits
    ArrowMACD0Prob = Arrow with MACD cross of 0 and probability > or < defined limits

    The last 3 work in real time - the first two will draw arrows and boxes in history because they only work from the MACD indicator in the timeframe on the chart which the indicator is
    attached to.

    Halcyonn,

    Ok - it sounds as though the trailing stop code isn't as robust as it could be, however this EA development is supposed to be a joint venture between everyone here...A fresh pair of eyes is always a good idea - maybe someone has some time tested logic for trailing stops which can be used instead of what we currently have. Anyone is free to make whatever changes they think will improve the EA in any way ;)

Martingale strategy doesn't necessarily have to be DOUBLING of losing lot sizes. It can be INCREMENTAL also ! That is still martingale in my book !!

    It appears to me that you practice martingale in your own trading which would explain why you reacted offensively. I guess that makes you a GAMBLER and not a trader. Keep your offensive opinions to yourself .

    Hello,

    Maybe i can answer some of your questions. In Feb. this newsletter was sent by Windsor:

    ____________________________________________________________
    Smart Trader's secret is this:

    Smart Trader will make more money for you on the CADJPY and USDCAD!

    On the CADJPY and USDCAD, Smart Trader will trade
    more often (more consistent wins than other pairs),

    with fewer losses (only 4 out of 296 since May 2010, or 1.35% / 98.65% Win ratio),

    and greater profit (you can increase the lot size because of the tiny "max drawdown")!

    After compiling and reviewing Smart Trader data from the last 8 months, the CADJPY and the USDCAD are the new dominant pairs to trade with using Smart Trader!

    The GBPJPY was a stellar performer for most of last year despite some stop loss hits, but now it is clear that the CADJPY has taken the crown!

    GBPJPY vs. CADJPY
    The CADJPY had 62% smaller max drawdowns

    So, run a Smart Trader demo with both the CADJPY and the USDCAD on one account with the following settings:
    Conservative settings for CADJPY and USDCAD
    0.20 lots per $10,000 (normally 0.10 for other pairs)
    Stop Loss: 2000 (that's counting in micropips, or 200.0 pips)
    Max orders: 5

    And let us know how your trading turns out!
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ( You just have to registor on their website and you will receave their newslette too. Their way is to give the demo for free so you can try , and than finaly you buy the live -Version. Of course thats what they hope. They are running themselfs some accounts, allways trying to find better settings. I thing that is a fair strategie.

    I believe a good way to start up with that EA is to use only those two pairs: CADJPY and USDCAD, with the given Settings in the newsletter. If you use the konservative Mode it will trade only once or twice a week, but with a very good winningrate. So you might want to increase the lot sice later on but take you time.

    TF: The TF does not really matter. I always take H1.

    TP: The TP is calculated dynamical which i like. If you prefer you can choose the Version of Capella with a fixed TP. But stay low, maybe around 10 Points.

    SL: If you choose a SL depends on how you will handle the EA. Of course you have to take a SL if you cant watch the trading at lease twice a day. But if you can, you might not set a SL and kontroll the EA manually. For that i monitor the Positions in H4 and watch the graph not leaving the normal "weekly range". If a position falls out of the weekly range chanel it becomes rather unlikely that the Position will be closed in profit. So i decide to give it another changse or to close it in Loss.
