I have back tested the robot with duka's tickdata. I have also had a look at the code. The Magic of this robot sits in DLL file. So hard to optimise as the rest of the code are 3 complicated money management systems and some time management. i would love to have found out trading logic. Back test with duka till end of JAN 2012 showed from 2007 showed a PF of 1.73 on fixed eurusd spread of 1.5. DD is about 6.5%. This is with MM option 1 which did not do any kind of compounding.

As for news filter - It is extremely difficult to select in advance the news items that will have a high effect on the trade. i have added news filters to robots and it limits the amount of trades and it limits the profit factor and overall profit. What we see now is that a lot of non scheduled news events move the market. A tweet from Bill Gross about QE3 moved the market 70 pips. Robots like kangaroo that use custom news events ( basically high risk news events that they think will move the market) got caught out.

Kangaroo uses the forex factory news file for news that is in categories, high, medium and low. However you will find that the default settings uses something of a custom news filter. This data comes via the DLL. The news file in both the tester and the files folder does not contain any custom category news. This is the great magic of kangaroo. They must have back tested news feed after news and only found out that a few high impact news items would deserve the term custom. E.G NFP and Trade Balance are both high impact news accrding to Forex factory. NFP has much more of an impact on the exchange rate as Trade Balance. There for you still trade when Trade Balance is released and you do not trade around NFP.

Equity Protect. I have set it at 30% so when floating DD hits 30% it will close all open orders to preserve equity.

the blog tells you how to trade 1.2 on a 1.3 version. the backtest i did for 2009 with 1.2 settings did not get an EP. I wish i could record the floating DD whilst I am back testing.

Search a bit more on this forum version 1.3 in there. i still would not trade it live.

Back test tick by tick for 2009 did not leave me with a warm feeling. even with lower risk than advised I got an EP. This system averages down which is almost as dangerous as martingale. When i see straight profit growth curves I always get suspicious. One day or another this one will blow your account.

Can you not login as investor and use trade copier to copy their trades.

it is not about how many trades an ea does. You want an EA with a high PF and a setup of a high probability trade. You can than run multiple EAs on one account. I have now lots of eas that trade 50-60 times a year. I think kangaroo fits well in a portfolio of EAs.

Why does everybody want the educated version. you have a 60 day money back guarantee. Enough to see if this ea is good or not.

I am using this EA but can't tell yet if it has good results. It only does 4-5 trades a month. So far since October I have not seen any trades.

You might see the opposite happen. Deflation and a lower gold price.
