kid1442 reacted to forexintel in What is (3 Quadrants)3q method?
BUY LOW|SELL HIGH – A simple strategy indeed. But it is often confused with LOWEST and HIGHEST. There are simply no LOWEST or HIGHEST as they are breached every time. With the right combination of Zigzag, Fibonacci retracements, Moving averages and Cycle lines, it is possible to identify the HIGH and LOW of the main trends and its sub trends. 3q method attempts to do the same.
INTRODUCTION
A trading strategy inspired by the principle of a Japanese Candlestick. A typical candlestick consists of a body and wick on either side of the body forming 3 distinct quadrants. (Fig1.) Here white candle is a BULL candle, where the closing price is above the opening price and the black candle is a BEAR candle, where the closing price is below the opening price.
http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k543/ponforex/3q/fig1.gif
FIG 1
The sameH4 candle when looked in a H1 chart looks like this. (Fig2.) We see that the white H4 candle consists of 2 black H1 candles and 2 white H1 candles. When we see the same candle from the M5
http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k543/ponforex/3q/fig2.gif
FIG 2
Chart, which is shown in fig3, we realize that, a single white H4 candle is made up of a combination of up and down M5 candles and are highly volatile. So, lower time frames are volatile but can give early entry.
http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k543/ponforex/3q/fig3.gif
FIG 3
BUY LOW|SELL HIGH
The principal trading strategy of 3q method is to BUY LOW and SELL HIGH. In other words, we should ideally buy when the prices are below the opening prices of a WHITE candle and sell when the prices are above the opening prices of a BLACK candle. How we do know if the current candle will be BLACK or WHITE?
We need to know 3 critical points to execute a profitable trade.
1. The HIGH for a SELL and the LOW for a BUY.
2. The start and end of a Price trend.
3. If possible, the right time of entry and exit.
1. ZIGZAG and FIBO:
Each candle is a cocktail of trends in itself in its lower time frames. The main trend also has many sub trends. But each candle has a HIGH and a LOW. To make it visually clear, Zigzag indicator is very useful (Fig 4.)
http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k543/ponforex/3q/fig4.gif
FIG 4
The right zigzag number would filter the small sub trends and capture only the relevant main trends depending on the time frame. In fig 4, you can see the HIGH and LOW of the H4 candle represented by a LOW and HIGH zigzag. Candles or trends of different time frames would require different zigzag numbers. But the zigzag can keep getting updated even after forming a LOW zigzag or a HIGH zigzag. Hence we need to use zigzag in combination with Fibonacci retracements to identify the potential support and resistance levels (Fig5.)
http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k543/ponforex/3q/fig5.gif
FIG 5
Each and every candle and hence, every trend has a mathematical proportion to its previous trend. Here you see that the prices are obeying those mathematical proportions based on the modified Fibonacci retracements. You can see how the prices obeyed the 3 quadrants of the Fibonacci retracements. But we still need to know the start of a trend.
2. MOVING AVERAGES:
Moving averages can be used to identify the start and end of a trend direction. (Fig6)
http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k543/ponforex/3q/fig6.gif
FIG 6
When the red moving average is above the black moving average it is a BUY and when the red moving average is below the black moving average, it is a SELL. It has to be observed on multiple timeframes to filter out sub trends.
For example, we have added the M15 equivalent of the moving averages in M5 chart (Fig7)
http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k543/ponforex/3q/fig7.gif
FIG 7
As we already know, we get an early entry when we look at the M5 moving averages. But when we look at the M15 equivalents, we realize that it is still a BUY trend.
Prices keep touching the moving averages once every few minutes or hours or days or months or years, depending on the timeframe. You can see from fig 7, how the prices keep touching, not only the M5 moving averages, but also the M15 equivalents. So looking at higher time frames, you can differentiate a retracement from a reversal. When the prices are away from the moving averages, the prices either move side wards to wait for the moving average or retrace back to meet the moving averages. (Fig8)
http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k543/ponforex/3q/fig8.gif
FIG 8
3. CYCLE LINES:
Let us use this tool to divide the H4 candle into 3 equal parts: (Fig9)
http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k543/ponforex/3q/fig9.gif
FIG 9
We see that the prices were moving side wards in the 1st quadrant of the vertical cycle line and in the 1st quadrant of the horizontal fibo retracement.
In the 2nd quadrant of the cycle line we get a clear signal for BUY when the red moving average locks above the black moving average. It is ideal for a BUY as the prices reversed in 1st quadrant of the Fibonacci retracement with the combination of a LOW zigzag, confirming BUY LOW.
The prices retrace to touch the moving averages and close above the HIGH of 2nd quadrant. The BUY order can be closed at end of this H4 candle or kept open if higher time frames indicate a continuation of the trend.
The reverse of this would be applicable for a SELL, a price movement from 3rd quadrant to 2nd and 1st quadrants, confirmed by the locking of the red moving average below the black moving average. But most importantly the HIGH should be confirmed by a combination of HIGH zigzag and a strong resistance level from the 3rd quadrant of Fibo retracements.
This is applicable in every time frame, every financial market!
We will see some examples of price movements on a weekly chart, which represents a year’s price movements. Some examples below, but with additional details.:

I also noticed that SW is not performing well lately. We are now making V5.0. It has one more set of entry rules. In case the market is not trendy, it will shift to another mode. The Beta version has passed the tick data 99% backtest from 2007 and 2011. It will be available soon.

Hey Guys,
The link below is what i have on Super ADX, i can't even remember where i got it from lol I didn't like it much, but may be someone might find it usefull;)
If anyone has the Trend wave Indicator to share i would be grateful, but the guy claims that it doesn't repaint seem like a lie cause by the look of his charts that he shows the TW has to repaint, but i guess the best way is to check yourself. So if anyone can share that would be great:)

kid1442 reacted to dinj in Forex Shocker 2.0XE N1
After a reasonable(ok) performance of Forex Shocker on my live account, I decided to mod it and add news filter.
The version in question is 2.0, nodll, found on this forum. I'm not sure who educated it.
The only broker I have been able to work it or backtest it on, is JadeFX. At first I thought it was weird, but after some months I thought it might have something to do with the GMT offset.
I looked into the code and found a major bug that only allowed it to work on gmt offset=0 and 1, on some pairs
I fixed it and it should now be able to work and be backtested on any broker.
Another bug I found was about the timed closing, also knows as customlevels on fapturbo. What this does is, it closes the trade at a smaller profit, or small loss, after a certain time if it hasn't reached takeprofit yet. The bug only allowed it to work on 4-digit brokers. It's fixed now, even though I might have had more profits with it accidently off.
The news filter is exactly the same that I added to Megadroid, so no big deal.
Now notice I called it XE :D
About that, I added a couple of costumizable features.
Where you're supposed to choose the logic, I added a new option, which is 0=custom.
If you put 0, then you're able to custumize a whole bunch of features to the logic. And here they are:
-Timed_Closing: This is a general option for any logic. Putting this to false, it turns off those custom levels of, which close a trade in smaller profit if it hasn't been able to reach takeprofit after a while.
-News Filter - AvoidNews: This is pretty much the same as megadroid. Turn it on to not trade around news and specify which news and how long before and after.
-Logic: the same as the original but now you can choose 0 to specify your own parameters.
Advanced Settings: here they are.
-Hour_Start_Time and Hour_End_Time: Pretty obvious this one, from when till when you want it to open trades.
-TakeProfit: before, in all pairs, the take profit was always 4 pips. Now you can go wild on it if you want.
-StopLoss: before, the stoplosses ranged around 19-34 depending of the pair. Now you pick it.
-NN1, NN2... NN8: I have no idea what this values are really, but they have to do with the logic of opening a trade. On version 1 you could and had to change this values depending on each pair. The thing is, before there was only NN1- NN5 and they are exactly the same as in version 1. Now there are 3 more values (NN6,NN7,NN8), even though on every pair they seem to be the same values.
-Timed_Buy_TakeProfit: This might be a bit confusing. Remember the Timed_Closing or customlevels? This is to do with that. Here you decide which value of profit you want it to close a buy trade after a certain time.
-Timed_Sell_TakeProfit: The same but for sell/short trades.
-Minutes_Buy: Here you choose how many minutes after the trade opening you want to activate the Timed_Buy_TakeProfit.
-Minutes_Sell: Same, but for sells.
Here's an example for this last part. If you have Timed_Closing as true, Logic as 0, and let's say you are trading AUDUSD. It opens a buy trade at 22:15. Usually it tries to take profit of 4 pips. Let's say you have Timed_Buy_TakeProfit set to "-1" and Minutes_Buy to 75. This means, if after 75 minutes your trade is still open, then the takeprofit will be changed from 4 to -1. As an example, if it bought at 0.9000, the initial takeprofit was at 0.9004 and after 75minutes it will be changed to 0.8999 and the trade will close if the Bid price is equal or higher than that.
So that's it, I'm posting then the nodll version with the ffcal indicator that you have to put on indicators folder if you still don't have it. I'm also sending a picture with the settings for each of the original pairs. You don't need to input those values, as you just need to choose the logic for those original pairs, but it's usefull for your curiosity and if you wanna test differents value.
http://www.multiupload.com/2OHB9VE2ET
I just gave it a quick test and it seemed alright. If you find any bugs, post them here. Good luck.

kid1442 reacted to steadywinner in Steady Winner EA
Hi beppus
It is not like that. 50 pips is the maximum boundary. There is an internal takeprofit and stoploss. the 50 pip stoploss is not often hit. So the ratio is not 1:5, but 1:2.5.
Please read the codes CloseBuy() and CloseSell. They are fire escapes.
I am doing forward test of V4.2, download the pictures and you will see.

Hi everybody. This is Ming, the coder of SteadyWinner. I am also a member of this forum. Thank you for your support.
I have noticed some problems in V3 too. But there is no need to do recoding yourself. Please email me for a beta version of V4. We have solved all the small problems reported by users and have rewritten the Money Mangement part in V4 to make it trade more smartly.
V4 also has a different trading logic which makes it more profitable in the long run. Although V3 is consistent, it is stubborn. Sometimes it does not open trades for days. V4 is more active and has more trades.
I just need some more time to write the user manual, then V4 will be released. Every user will be updated to V4 free.

Latest Update on this thread:
Jan 3, 2011
Hi All:
I am sorry for not posting on this thread for awhile. A lot has happened since. As I posted before, PC got infected with nasty virus.. Then, some personal issues that I have been dealing with.. On top of everything else, CFTC ruling of lowering leverage on Forex brokers in US, Grid strategy/martingale/hedging may not be work out for me personally.
However, there are many of you who is not in US, still can open an account with brokers still allowing higher leverage (200:1) still can use strategy such as Grid/Martingale/Hedging.
So, as my contribution, I will release my own EA that I developed and paid professionally coded for my own use to anyone still interested in Grid/Martingale/Hedging system. If you still believe Grid/Martingale/Hedging strategy s going to work for you.
If anyone think it is SCAM, please stay away!
~~~~~~~~~~
As I promised, here is my EA. Please see note.txt included in the zip file before you email me please. Back test looks good, but real time trading is actually better perform. It is Grid/Martingale/Hedging in all in one. So, I tried to make strategy as profitable as possible without using the StopLoss. However, if you see a drawdown that is not comfortable, please use 'manual shutdown' function to close all open positions and start again. First loss is the best loss... System will start making that money back real fast, so don't worry about cutting the losses time to time. While there's no guarantee in any trading, especially this types of trading system like iWin, I am sharing this anyone who is interested in the system. So, trade at your own risk.
Enjoy it and many pips to you all!:)
