    Hi all,

    There was a thread going on in another forum trying to replicate the performance/strategy of Million Dollar Pips. Unfortunately the thread seems to be going walkabout on occasion, so I'd thought I'd start a new one here with the hope it can find a new life :)

    Below is a link to the code and a description of the MDP code - full credit goes to Capella for developing & maintaining the code. From what I understand, this is an entirely open source effort and does not use the original source of MDP, merely the strategy is attempted to have been replicated.

    This said, I haven't been able to get some decent tick back-tests out of the code. I'm wondering whether the original MDP back-tested well? The other notable difference is that I believe MDP uses a number of "channels" which presumably are different timeframes which the Bollinger Bands are breached (which is how it scalps). This clone uses a combination of moving averages and bbands instead.

    Really interested to see whether we can make an effort to enhance the system...

    If you take a look at the set files i've shared, they are optimized from 2003 until end 2009/first part of 2010. So yes, it's kind of a lot of time to optimize.
    Anyway, it can be optimized in Open Bar mode so it's kind of easy, test it yourself until you get comfortable with the behavior on each pair.
    Regards.

    Umm - perhaps we can keep objective in this discussion, otherwise I could also question your motives (and it really wouldn't make me lose or win an extra dollar, so why should I care? This IS a free EA we're talking about.)

    Backtest EURUSD M15 - cacusmaccimov2 - Dukascopy tick data - jan '10-Jun '10 - 100% wins. Maximal drawdown - 9%. 30% ROI.

    Whether or not it works in live mode is an exercise for all the fine folk out there.

    This is my first EA sharing post.
    With EA piplite (only on GBPUSD) of forex-tsd.com forum is the best EA I have test ever.

    I have found this EA and try it on demo with very good results, more than 100% a month on 3-4 pairs.
    It needs optimization every week.
    I ´d like to share with me the best pairs and optimization sets.

    Hi cacus, I felt compelled to reply to hopefully make you see the events as something positive. If it wasn't for forexlegend's appearance, I would not know anything about you or your good work (and the forum you've been frequenting). As they say, imitation is the best form of flattery and in terms of respect I think numerous others on this forum would concur that sharing EA Maccimo really puts you amongst valued contributors.

    If you want to use the Linux analogy of sharing, then I think that ForexLegend is simply the RedHat of your work - making it accessible to those who want something shrink wrapped. You, however, are the Linus. Problem is, however, that FL are going to have to somehow sustain some sales in the face of other people soon realizing they can get this work for free from a guy named Cacus.

    As one member suggested, maybe this is an opportunity to get some income off the back of your efforts (if that's of interest to you). Anything coming from 'cacus' is going to have much more credibility than something coming from ForexLegend.

    Regards.

    Patheway and folks,

    Yes, i've already decided not to share my stuff anymore since some time ago. I've already suffered ripoffs before.
    Maccimo was my last share. And amazingly reappeared now with these guys at ForexLegend... I've talked already with FPA guys for them to investigate further.
    I'm sorry but as a Open Source enthusiast it's a shame for me to write this. I come from the Linux community since several years ago and shared and felt the Open Source ideology. But after being two or three years in this business i've discovered that here it's not the same at all, here there's no codes, there's no respect. But well, i suppose it's normal when there's money involved... All these scam things makes this forums really useful.
    I'm out of this, i'm keeping my work, hope you all understand.
    Enjoy V2, and remember to use it with low risk and to perform several backtest before to know how this EA behaves and to understand the risk of this strategy in a correct way.
    Regards.

    @vikram88
    Actually that is what the EAKain developer did :)
    But remember this is depend on your Broker regarding DST setting.
    My suggestion the best this is do your own backtest, and see which is best GMT_Offset

    @bigdir
    I'm not really sure about your problem, that probably problem with your metatrader or your antivirus/antispyware.
    As per statistic already more than 500 people already download V104 and so far nobody feedback like what happen to you.
    Maybe you can try reinstall your metatrader with latest version and try again, and make sure you are login with administrator right.

    @Rex68
    Yes you are right, default spread is the maximum spread that safe use with EAKain.
    You can reduce it to make even safer but you will lost chance of potential trade (and off course potential lost :) )
    BTW off course it's depend on your trading style.

    @fx4_ever
    Nice back test, better than my backtest at Liteforex :)
    But remember in real trade, is very difficult to get that, since spread will increase during Asian session due to high demand, while on fixed spread broker they will play with re-quote with same reason high demand :)

    What I got so far is that 2 URLs are accessed when you run the EAs:
    http://fapturbo.com/gmt.php
    http://forexlegend.com/access/fl.php?

    I decompiled the dll file, however my c skills are very limited. What I found out by sniffing is that the dll calls the latter URL like the following:
    http://forexlegend.com/access/fl.php?file=ForexLegendTrendFollower:1.00&base=11111111&acct=11111&type=0&code=911
    same is with the Scalper
    http://forexlegend.com/access/fl.php?file=ForexLegendScalper:1.00&base=11111111&acct=11111&type=0&code=911
    type is demo, there you should pass over 0
    code is the authentication code which I have no clue of
    acct is the account number
    If you call the url in your browser you get the following:
    00000000|ForexLegendTrendFollower Disabled|ForexLegendTrendFollower is disabled due to invalid authentication details
    If you pass at least a correct base-number you get:
    11111111|ForexLegendTrendFollower Disabled|ForexLegendTrendFollower is disabled because the receipt number is incorrect
    The first 8 digits are a number I changed also.

    I changed the base-number to 8 times a 1. It differs from machine to machine so this could be some kind of machine id.

    What I found so far in the c-code is that the open buy and the can_open functions also call the Activate function. Therefore these 2 functions have to be completely rewritten in the mql code and the call of function call Activate in mql has to be removed. That may do the trick.
    Perhaps also the GetState() response has to be altered, but that seems to be just visual cosmetic.

    If that does not work maybe one can find out what the valid the response for the call of their php file is. Then like the trick with Ninja Trader you could run a local webserver that will respond with this value. I already tested it with a simle 1 as response, but that did not work.
