Max open dd was 3%, and account is now up 8%

OK, I set up six demos this evening on Oanda starting with $10000 and 50:1 leverage. Lot size is set at 0.10 per $5000 as has been previously discussed on the forum. Three of the demos are using delta of 300, with the other three at 350; TP for each delta is 0.25, 0.30, and 0.35, giving us the six demos. the losses at the beginning were premature trades when I was trying to get the ea running properly.

Our tick senders are probably the exact same then, and yes it sends ticks to everything. I usually have about 10 platforms running, and one instance of the tick sender handles them all.

 

Old tick errors are broker data feed issue, no way to fix that I know of other than changing brokers :(

This is the tick sender I use, standalone exe that sends ticks to any mt4 platform you have open. Not sure what the other one is, I didn't check it out, but this one has been around a long time and works perfectly for me for years now.

On another note: I have finally figured out how this ea closes for target. It's based on used margin, not free margin (maybe I misread that earlier in the thread). So if I am using $400 margin right now, and have my target set at .2, it will close out all trades at $80 profit. That was confusing me :)

The concern, at least on my part was, ensuring the ea was running correctly. Because we do not know the exact conditions of a trade being taken, it's hard to verify the ea is taking trades when it should be. Normally, you know the exact rules required for a trade to open, so its easy to verify the ea's logic is coded correctly. Anyhow, trades have been taken so it's all good.

Mine has taken its first trades, so I guess all is well. Still not quite sure why they weren't taken yesterday, but I don't know the specifics of the trade conditions for this thing.

Will see how they turn out.

Ok, i'll just let it run this week and see if I get any trades. thx for your reply. Apparently it's more than just the delta I guess.

Here's a screenshot of mine. as you can see there are a couple of pairs that are > 350 <-350, yet nothing is opening. Maybe I am not understanding how this ea is supposed to work? (which is very possible, lol).

So If i have been seeing on the screen display, usdchf/gbpusd combo is at -380 and +380, and I have my delta set at 350, shouldn't I be getting a trade on those?

Just trying to understand and fix the issue if there is one. No errors in journal or experts.

My pleasure, glad you can find some use for it. Thanks for sharing, I have just set it up this week so I am a little behind the times, but hopefully I'll see the promising results you have with it over the past few months.

I could not monitor (babysit) all time but at one point I saw a DD of around -$1500), don't know if it went bigger?

I think that to put it on live with less stress is to put only 0.2 to 0.5 lot/$5000 account, like you said.

 

Or to use your smart strategy, (waiting on demo that DD around -$2500).

 

Do any members know a possible alert indi which send sms or email when DD meets a $ value (adjustable), that would be great, not to have to baby sit the basket! (or if a coder could implement it in the EA)

I modified this ea that I have used for years now to keep track of open DD. It is meant to close all trades when inputted DD is reached, however I modified it so it just alerts and doesnt close trades. So you can use it for what you want. Myself, I always have it on any ea or method I am testing because I want to know what max open DD is always, whether I am there to see it or not :)

So are you going to be manually entering like he does, or tweaking the ea to automatically take trades based on your spacing above?

yeah i've done that but to no avail. however, i did change the basket input from 8 to 14, still errored, but when i changed it to 16 its fine. no idea lol

Actually, gave that a try and I get the zero divide error. I got that before also when I tried to make it trade 14 pairs as well. Not sure how to get around it, obviously I have all the pairs on Go so not sure how to fix.

Thanks, I'll see if i can give that a go. I was going to setup another v8 on h1 or h4, but I guess I can do a sister one with the adjusted pairs instead. Have you had any success with lower timeframe settings?

yes, just the 8 pairs as per the set file with 8.0.

The basket I left open the entire week has finally closed, at +920 pips. It's peak open profit was +1735 pips.

Default v8 set file on gomarket. We'll see what next week brings.

The v8 basket that I've left running since it opened on sunday is still going and climbing to new profit levels. I am also now finally noticing that the trailing stop is indeed working, its just very wide. Whether this works out to be a good thing or not time will tell.

But now, it does say it's locked in 3.1% at the top there, so at least it can't lose anymore :)

We'll see what it finally closes at when the time comes, as I track the open profit so i'll know how high it got at any time, and when the ea finally closes it at.

I really wish I could understand what he is saying on the alpari forum, there's lots of discussion, but it gives me a headache to try to understand the translated comments :(

thanks for the reply soundfx, once this basket closes on it's own (want to see when it will or if it will) i'll play with those settings to see if i can get it working.

Do you have any idea what 'breakdown from extreme' means? It's highlighted so I assume that is what the bot is looking for to tp?

The default set file included with v8 seems to have trailing stop disabled? On my screen the only two options I have highlighted (which I assume meaning they are active) is 'breakdown from extreme (359)' and 'disable all trails'. Anyone have any idea what breakdown from extreme means?

I've had a basket open since last night, which went about 125 pips in profit at one point today. Before it got to that open profit level, it only saw -4 pips in DD!.

However, since then, it has dropped way back, and at one point actually went -18 pips dd, and is now back at about 60 pips open profit. So watching it go instantly to 125 pips, just to slowly drain and go negative isn't all that great. I have tried to understand the trailing stop options in v8 but just having a hard time.

I am leaving this basket open just to see if it EVER closes per the ea, hopefully gaining some knowledge of what the 'breakdown from extreme' means.

If anyone fully understands these settings, maybe you could show me the exact inputs in order to set, say, 'when 10% profit is achieved, trail 5%' ?

There are freely shared ea's from the yahoo forex group. All descriptions and ea versions are there, as well as the trading strategy and changes to different versions. Nothing secretive about posting something that is free :)

Does anyone have this one and have any experience with it? I am looking for a signal copier that can copy from a non ecn broker to an ecn broker.

Which means if the master sends a trade with SL/TP, the slave will open that trade, and then do an order modify to add the TP/SL, as an ecn broker requires.

If anyone knows of another available copier that does this, or can get ahold of this one, much appreciated!!

Thanks for that clovelly, I wasn't able to read the code well enough at all to figure out exactly when it trades. I'll keep it running then this week to see what it does.
