  1. Re: [REQ] fxbrokerbuster

Anyone have any thoughts on this EA?

The backtest shows that the profit only really kicks in from July 2009. From 2007 to then it doesn't really do much.

It would be interesting to find out why this is the case as there are other periods which seem similar where it didn't perform so well. Maybe it has potential for upgrading ;)

    Ok, here you go...

Can't imagine any broker going bust on this one though ;)

Note: Despite what they say on the sales page the losses are typically 3 times bigger than the profits. You'll need at least a 75% success rate to just breakeven.

    Kudos much apprecriated :)

  3. Re: Successful Manual System Anyone?

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I must admit I had a chuckle when I saw the topic was moved to "Beginners"! =))

I didn't think being sceptical made you a novice. It usually comes the other way around. Although I have only been trading forex for 4 years, I have been trading, although technically more "investing", in stocks for over 22 years. I bought just about every system under the sun and I'm just not convinced there is any system worth the money. That's not to say there aren't systems that work but usually by the time joe public finds out about them they don't work any more.

Most of my manual forex trading is based on fundamentals, news, SR and trendlines. The problem is it takes too much time. Being a programmer by trade I've always favoured an automated approach but it's still a work in progress. I haven't given up yet though.

I'll check those systems out though...

  4. Ok, I must admit I'm a but sceptical of most systems but I have yet to find a manual system which works long term. I've tried quite a few over the last few years but none live up to their billing. I think most of these developers hide behind the fact they can't be easily verified and often the system descriptions are ambiguous leaving them open to different interpretations.

Does anyone here have a good experience of a publicly available system which they have proved to work over 6 months to a year on a live account? Or maybe a demo account if it's a non scalper.

    Thanks

  5. Re: The Usless of Expert Advisors!

@scarface, I agree with you for the most part there.

I don't know which came first but Ilan is the same as IAPE which I've played around with. Whilst, it does work well for most of this year (perhaps from March) because of the ranging market conditions on the EURCHF, that maybe the only time it would have worked in recent years. In other years it would have wiped out your account quite easily.

On a general note, I think EAs are as good or bad as manual systems. Because EAs can easily be backtested we can quickly see that 99.9% of them are rubbish but how can we judge the manual systems. Usually we have to take them on trust and try them out for a long time so they're bound to have a better image.

On my forex exploits over the last 3-4 years, I may have found around 5 EAs/robots which are fairly reasonable in peformance but I haven't found any manual system I'd stick with yet.

If anyone has one they've been using successfully for a year or more I'd be interested to know the name but I guess then if you had one you wouldn't be reading this forum! ;)

  6. Re: Before buying an Expert Advisor

How did you find out these are Gepard?

Looks about right though from my own backtesting.

Big drawdown, no stoploss.. not that that worries my particularly, so long as it survives....nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Well there are a few forums which have it up for sale. Strangely when I went back to the one which had the link they had deleted the post. Don't know what you can infer from that? However google still has it in it's cache:

I did see some other statement somewhere else which also showed a large drawdown in hanging open trades. I take it that's what you're seeing.

  7. Re: Before buying an Expert Advisor

I am working on MasterMind3 now, if anyone wants to work with me on this, I think it will be really profitable.

It is always better to hedge your bets with more than one good EA.

I am not much of a coder but I am good for the simple stuff.

Maybe we could all do it and share some ideas.

Here is a tip for anyone who is doing greezly/gepard right now.. go with a 5 digit broker to start or else you will drive yourself nuts.

What is it about MM3 that you like? The results I've seen so far haven't bowled me over but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. What pairs/timeframes are you using it on?

Personally I don't think the extra WPRs add anything to the signal. I think it needs something else totally different to confirm it. I'm not sure if something like the crossover on the RVI (the Ehlers Vigor one) is that. Maybe also a filter like ATR to make sure there's enough room for price movement.

I must admit having a second look at the Greezly I'm finding it more interesting. Mostly curiosity to see what makes it tick. Gepard is a bit more of a struggle as there are only "educated" variable names to go by.

If you want someone to bounce ideas off and to help coding though I'm happy to chip in. I develop for a living and MQL is second nature for me. Start another thread on it... :)

  8. Re: Before buying an Expert Advisor

    ...

Here are some clues to what the Gepard Variables are.

    ...

Thanks for that. It's interesting that Gepard and Greezly have so many features in common, either one inspired the other or there was another that inspire both. It would be nice to get the real mq4 (not educated) file for Gepard, I know it's out there! :)

With Greezly it has a bias towards either long or short which I don't have a problem with. Obviously you have to watch your major trend and proportion the TP and SL accordingly. However it does mean you have to watch the backtests and optimisation. You don't want to go back to far in case you cover 2 different trends.

  9. Re: Cloverix EA

if someone wants to contact them to see if they can purchase a copy, id be glad to chip in for it.

    I'd chip in too.

Incidently, this is pdf you get with the ID program

  10. Re: Before buying an Expert Advisor

Its no secret, the EAs this is based on (or the logic anyway) is Gepard and Greezly. I used the Greezly base code and imported the Gepard logic as an addition to get more trades.

Then I simply added the rules I listed on the front page. It is still a work in progress.. I expect I can double the output when I find some sell logic to import.

Neither Gepard or Greezly has sound sell logic.

Yep, Greezly is the one I thought it was. :D I didn't know about the Gepard factor although I've got that in my library too (an educated version not the real source).

Greezly did have a rather high SL and some of the factors were biased. I remember when I first looked at it I thought it was a bit risky but it looks like you've tamed it a bit. I'll have another look at it...

  11. Re: Before buying an Expert Advisor

    Ok, I made the video..

I chose a period that is pretty volatile so it shows the resetting of the stop orders..

I am not much of a movie maker but it shows the way it follows the market from high to low. So I guess it does what it is supposed to.

The point should not be lost here.

Anyone can have an EA that trades the way they want it to, just by learning the very basics of coding and investing some time.

Thanks for sharing. :) That looks like a good strategy you've got there. I think I know which EA it was based on but I like what you've done to it.

  12. Re: Before buying an Expert Advisor

    Yes, it is for real..

I started with 5000 and I had 82 trades, my drawdown was 21,000 at one point. I was already 90,000 up, so I just shut my eyes and trusted the thing. Sometimes I am my own worst enemy but that time I was good.

Best thing I can do for you guys is take a video of a visual and post it so you can see how it trades. I will try and get that done in the next couple of days. Its a shame they have such limitations on the files that can be attached here.. makes posting stuff too hard to be convenient.

That would be really interesting :) What's your profit/loss ratio? Win and losses? Any other stats. It's always nice to hear success stories.

Whilst I'm making money, I'm no where near that rate!
