InDoRay Posted yesterday at 10:49 AM Report Posted yesterday at 10:49 AM Hi all, After 14+ years of (futures) trading, I realized my biggest problem was not strategy… but execution. I kept missing breakout entries on NQ/MNQ because: - I was too late - Hesitated - Walked away from the chart for a moment - Or started chasing the move after the breakout already happened So I built a semi-automated breakout execution tool for NinjaTrader 8. The concept is simple: - I manually draw my own trendline using the NT8 line tool - The system monitors the breakout - Once price breaks the level, the trade executes automatically with predefined stop loss and target This keeps me in control of the setup while removing hesitation from execution. It is NOT a “holy grail” system and not a guaranteed profit machine. The trader still needs proper analysis, discipline, and risk management. But for traders struggling with execution and missed trades, this has honestly helped me a lot. Would love to hear if other traders here struggle with the same issue.

Have you tried LuxAlgo trendline breakout with alert? I am sure you can automate that. Also, DynoTrading has this already automated strategy with its Tbar. There are quite a few out there as far as for trendline breakouts. Ncat has it. ARC has it...Just to name a few on top of my head. Edited 22 hours ago by Ninja_On_The_Roof InDoRay 1
InDoRay Posted 22 hours ago Author Report Posted 22 hours ago Yes, there are definitely other breakout and automation tools out there. What I personally found missing for my own workflow was the balance between discretionary trading and execution automation. Most fully automated systems remove too much control for my style of trading, while manual execution often caused hesitation or missed entries. I was mainly looking for a tool around keeping the trader in control of the setup while automating the execution side. So for me it’s less about “full automation” and more about execution assistance.

Ninja_On_The_Roof Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago Adding volume surge when a break happens doesn't hurt either. Just something extra to confirm the probability of the breakouts. InDoRay 1
InDoRay Posted 1 hour ago Author Report Posted 1 hour ago Thanks everyone for the input and suggestions, really appreciate it 🙏 I made a short example video here of how I trade with my tool: https://youtube.com/shorts/7SlTTWykFIM?feature=shared Would be interesting to hear from experienced breakout traders here: Do you think semi-automation can genuinely help with execution consistency, or do you prefer fully manual execution?
