⭐ samsammy
guys, I've been considering maybe switching to a M1 macbook. Wondering if anyone here has been using NT8 with an M1 mac - using parallels. I know "it works', meaning it will run... but wondering if there are any trade offs, problems, pros or cons that go with using NT8 this way. Anyone who's gone this route would appreciate your thoughts.
⭐ TRAD3R.GURU
I haven't tried specific NT8 but most of the windows mac will give some trouble on parallels, also till few weeks back, VMWare was not supported either on M1, not sure with latest update though
⭐ AndyS
There is a small lag, but if you are not trading the 1Minute chart or the DOM, you will not feel it. Works fine on my eight year old Mac

⭐ samsammy
Thanks guru and andy for your replies. I was researching and saw that the older intel macs + parallels did have problems, but the new apple silicon M1 with parallels running win 11 is supposed to be very much improved. Benchmarks look pretty good. But most reviews are for games or basic win software so i was hoping someone had some experience specifically with NT8 + M1. I do trade shorter timeframes majority of time so any significant lagging is a deal killer.
⭐ AndyS
My Mac is older for sure. I like trading with Mac since it keeps me very limited to adding new junk/indicators. I just use TOS on it :)
⭐ TRAD3R.GURU
TOS has native application on Mac as it runs on JVM, there is no Parallels there
⭐ AndyS
TOS has native application on Mac as it runs on JVM, there is no Parallels there Correct. I don't use Parallels/NT8 anymore. Just TOS and IB using my older Mac. Works much better than my much newer windows desktop. I wanted to say that using a Mac makes my options limited, which again is a good thing in trading.
