Hi Group, would anyone have experience in working with Wave59 with forex symbols? I am trying to retrieve forex data from my IB connection using History59 with no luck. I know the syntax for retrieving a stock from IB is like AAPL_STK_SMART and that works fine... but don't know how for forex.

Thanks!

heheh, thanks Shenong. Ohh I did search Google the mighty beast quite a bit and came up with nothing! So eventually I just asked IB support about it and they gave me the answer! The syntax for a forex symbol was a little tricky and not obvious. For EURUSD, it would be this:

EUR_CASH_IDEALPRO_USD

For USDJPY, this:

USD_CASH_IDEALPRO_JPY

It now reads in ticks from IB fine, but only problem -History59 doesn't seem to be able to retrieve "1-day history" or "multiple day history" for these forex symbols.

Thanks

Hi bro :)

Maybe some basic GOOG keywords would do the job.....So powerful beast.... :)

Thanks Banner, yes I know about the problems with 2.10 (have tried myself). I am using v3.6 RT and has been working fine for me.

Thanks

shawnh, are you using version 2.10? I don't think it works with IB. Eventually the screen will freeze.

AndyS :)

yeah, agree with you, W59 is not really a PRO software...Earik Beann has succeeded in selling a private home-made tool in a us$7500 "PRO" software....

Brilliant Marketing and TONS of luck, i guess.....

However, i don't say there are not some good ideas / functions inside, just the Global STRUCTURE is not on par....

My 2 cents, Man, just my 2 cents

:D

Thanks for that AndyS... I actually noticed that program when I was installing 3.6 (or was it 2.10?) some time ago. It looked fairly complicated and involved so I didn't bother touching it! Maybe I will have a closer look at it when I get some free time!

Thanks
