Are moving averages helpful?

I see that a lot of people are using it in trending markets. I personally never used them, because I am a supply and demand trader, but I wonder if using it can be helpful. What is your opinion on this?

The direction of an moving average shows the supply demand imbalance for the medium (50 ma) or long (200 ma) term. In other words, the path of least resistance - expressed by the demand supply imbalance - can be seen using moving averages. If the ma is sideways, no trend. If price over ma and ma angling up = uptrend; if price is below ma and ma angling down = downtrend.

 

So, ma is a kind of supply/demand indicator for the longer term in my oppinion.

IMHO, moving averages need to be centered to be accurate and valuable.

I find moving averages more of a problem then useful. They distract from the true price movement. They make it look like the price is moving smoothly and in a trend when it could be far from the case

I only like to use them to show me the trend, nothing more than that.

Steve Bigalow has a solid strategy with 8 EMA, Stochastic and candlestick formations. Check it on YouTube. Crosses are toooooo late but if you try entry after candle closes above/below 50 SMA it is also good strategy.

Focus on what you do best, not following others' style of trading! Naked trading and indicators trading, all good if you could do it with the right mindset!
