[REQ] Explain this for me please

Hi

 

I am trying to use strategy tester, but in the Expert properties I have hard time to understand the reason for the box that can be checked or unchecked and the VALUE, START, STEP, STOP. And do not know why the STEP and STOP changing automatically, and how is this affect the result?
