Q4 growth expected at 3 pct, which would be the fastest in 18 months. Q3 output was revised to account for an $8.5 bln drop in business inventories, which lopped off 1.55 percentage points from GDP growth. Inventories had previously been estimated to have increased $5.4 billion. Excluding inventories, the economy grew at an unrevised brisk 3.6 pct pace after expanding 1.6 pct in Q2. Consumer spending was revised slightly down to a 2.3 pct from 2.4 Real disposable income fell 2.1 pct after declining 0.5 pct in Q2 Business investment rose at a 14.8 pct rate instead of estimated 16.3 pct. As a result, investors’ pound-negative sentiment didn’t fade even as the Office for National Statistics reported that the country’s net excluding support for banks contracted from 7.7 billion pounds a year earlier to 6.5 billion pounds in October. The specialists expect that in this case the ECB will agree to cut its benchmark rate and provide banks with longer-term funds and do all it can to prevent euro’s collapse. In their view, during the most critical moment the Italian and Spanish 10-year bond yields may surge above 9% and French yields may bounce above 5%.
