eusanka Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 Have anyone recently upgraded to Metatrader 4.00 build 226 and found out that it consumes more than double amount of memory? I have also had 2 crashes that could caused some serious loss if I didn't found out. Quote
Indianamac Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 Yip,had a crash of MT4 build 226 on one of my vps`s and on another vps my MT4 build 226 is also using a lot more memory than normal. Quote
Stormin_Norman Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 i dont upgrade my live accounts immediately. and yes i have found on my demo which mimics my live account that memory consumption is up. i havent had it crash yet though. iliotest Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 ok.. that is the reason is imposible for me to run few things that i did before with 225 Quote
fxuser1 Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 do we have to upgrade...or can we leave it on version 225? Quote
Indianamac Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 you can leave it on build 225,only when your expert advisors require you to upgrade to build 226 will it be necessary. Quote
lumanauw Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 Whats the difference between built 225 and the new 226? Quote
⭐ birt Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 Whats the difference between built 225 and the new 226? Biggest difference is that they used an executable protector on it. Quote
Careca Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 If you want to run 225 version, without annoying upgrading option, just delete Liveupdate.exe on Metatrader Installation folder, or rename to different name. Quote
Careca Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 Biggest difference is that they used an executable protector on it. Hi Birt, what is "executable protector" feature on 226 version, how it works ? Quote
⭐ birt Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 Hi Birt, what is "executable protector" feature on 226 version, how it works ? It's not a feature. It's a protection they applied to it, not worth getting into the details. Quote
zorinfx Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 Birt: Is it part of the 226 Build or something else specific to the EA? Quote
⭐ birt Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 What EA are you even talking about? I just said its executable (terminal.exe from build 226) is protected. It has nothing to do with any EA. Quote
andresburgos Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 Hello, I hire a VPS and would like to know which ram recommended. Would use the time 8 or 9 EAs for testing. Thank you very much Quote
OnkelHotte Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 Hello, I hire a VPS and would like to know which ram recommended. Would use the time 8 or 9 EAs for testing. Thank you very much Hi, ...depends very much on the EAs... you should set up an MT4 -as you are planning to use it- on your home PC and see how much memory it consumes (i.e. task manager). regards, DerOnkel Quote
andresburgos Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 Hi, thanks for responding. I installed the task manager and I said that metatrader consume 65-70 mb, then a VPS with 384 mb would be sufficient? 512 or 640 or better? thank you very much! Quote
eusanka Posted April 5, 2010 Author Report Posted April 5, 2010 Thanks for your expertise Birt, always appreciated:) The question now, is there any reason to upgrade to build 226? I can only see disadvantages mostly due to the memory consumption but I don't know if there is any other effects as well? I am running 5 different charts with the same EA and the memory consumption for my mt4 went from 13mb to 28mb. I think that's is a huge step in wrong direction... Quote
OnkelHotte Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 Hi, thanks for responding. Hi, seems OK, but don´t judge too fast, better let it run for some time and see how much mem is needed, when more of your EAs get active at the same time and when some trades are open to be managed. All this affects the max amount of memory you need. luck, Onkel Quote
