a more effective way is to get into the habit of sustained low exertion cardio, eg 30-40 min power walking and doing weights. eating smaller meals more often. i changed to this and i need less sleep and usually wake up full of energy! also make the effort to drink 2.5 litres of energy a day, starting with 2 glasses when i wake up. it really helps
