thiagoferro Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 Please I´d like to know how this is gonna change our lives. For bad and good of course. I have several EA. Many of them are paid. Do you think that these ones will going to work on this new platform? Dont you think that can be a way for excluding some of profitable EA´s? Am I just paranoid? Thanks a lot.
virtualcredit Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Re: Metatrader 5 I`m sure that is gonna work. I`ve seen some reviews and it looks fine.

I'm sorry to tell that all your EAs won't run under MT5, because 2 reasons. Firstly MQL5 is not backward compatible with MQL4 and most importantly the MT5 has totally changed how the order positions work.
MBGold Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Re: Metatrader 5 it will be just like MT3 to MT4 evollution! All indicators and EA will have to be rewriten!
outcast Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Re: Metatrader 5 Hi All Very new here. When is MT5 due out and will all MT4 brokers update to it

mobius123 Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 Re: Metatrader 5 Will EAs built on MT$ still work on MT5?
hatter1000 Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Re: Metatrader 5 Dont rush - most EAs will have to be rewritten to work with Version 5

foti Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Re: Metatrader 5 If they don't run in few days they will :D Trade only what you see..
ppc123 Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Re: Metatrader 5 The only thing is that it becomes more difficult to develop a decompiler for MT5 binaries..
dznmrd Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Re: Metatrader 5 I wish metatrader 5 will have position reversal feature like forexclub broker, where we can reverse order from buy to sell without having to close order.
ktkomo Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Re: Metatrader 5 It looks like it will work this way, even if you don't want it... I wish metatrader 5 will have position reversal feature like forexclub broker, where we can reverse order from buy to sell without having to close order.

johnraintree Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Re: Metatrader 5 I've heard that MT5 will conform to the new NFA rules from the USA, which will severely limit the flexibility of EA management. What is the motivation for accepting those limitations?
armandog Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Re: Metatrader 5 I guess the best option we have is to migrate to Non-USA brokers to avoid the NFA rules.
ryujin Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Re: Metatrader 5 Yes, best to use UK brokers in this case
melinda Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 Re: Metatrader 5 Will EAs built on MT4 still work on MT5?
ericlps Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 Re: Metatrader 5 i heard MT5 is for broker only?

copycat Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 MQL5 Manual draft released For those who are interested in the upcoming MT5/MQL5 platform, the draft version of reference guide has been released. Unfortunately it is in Russian language only. Here is the link http://forum.mql4.com/ru/24747 Disclaim: I don't know Russian, so please don't ask me to translate.. But we can use Google translation services here. http://translate.google.com/translate_t#
ppc123 Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 Re: MQL5 Manual draft released I think it's still too early to look at MQL5 stuff... I have confidence that MQL5'll be better anyway, introducing more complex data structures and OO concept will only be welcome by more developers. (I prefer to debug in Visual Studio directly, though.)
copycat Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 Re: MQL5 Manual draft released One thing is missing from the manual is the trading functions. I suspect that was the main reason of the delay of the beta testing. Probably in process of complete re-writing that part of code as too many people complained about the lack of hedging and control of individual positions...
