Re: Megadroid Pro

It works on EURCHF, EURGBP and USDCHF besides EURUSD. So it's only a regular upgrade and it really doesn't worth 700$. By the way, we can successfully use megadroid MultiCurrency on USDJPY, GBPUSD and AUDUSD.

Which trading system are you using for usdjpy and gbpusd? There is a choice of four yes?

Re: Megadroid Pro

I got really bad backtesting result!!! Maybe I messed up the GMT offset setting.

I downloaded FXDD M1 data, and imported the data into Alpari Uk MT4 and PFG Best's MT4 (4 digits) to do the backtesting. So how do I set the GMT offset? Should I use FXDD's GMT offset or Alapri/PFG Best's GMT offset?

Thanks guys. Please help me out.

Re: Megadroid Pro

On Nordmarkets' website, it says MINI TRADING ACCOUNT has fixed spreads:

EURGBPm 2 PIPS

EURUSDm 1 PIP

Is this real? Will they increase the spread during asian session?

I downloaded their ECN demo, the speads are even bigger than the fixed speads.

Re: Megadroid Pro

I'm running two instances on Alpari UK, live -- and no crashes.

It's not trading anywhere near as promiscuously as some other people's results, but its' not losing much either. :-bd

Metatrader typically crashes when you thrash Metatrader out with too many EAs, and then the computer runs out of memory.

My platform runs on a 3.5GB of memory WinXP VPS....., and that's its sole purpose in life.

Re: Megadroid Pro

Don's latest eex2, on Alpari's metatrader (still build 224 IIRC)

Seriously, having 6 windows open running an EA that chugs a lot can tax a machine with 2GB of memory. I had this issue with Forex Shocker on all 6 charts with only 2GB on alpari. Start doing other things with that same computer and then you really should look at upgrading to 4GB. If you have a 64-bit capable computer and matching OS, you can even take it beyond 4GB.

Re: Megadroid Pro

For FXDD you need to set GMT offset of 3.

I get bad results too with FXDD's historical data. At least (to my knowledge) it's real price data from their trade servers and not indicative data like Metaquotes data (data that has been averaged together from different sources).

We need real data from broker's trade servers to properly test scalpers like MegaDroid. A few pip difference here and there in the data can make a big difference.

Alpari used to provide their trade server data on their web site but they stopped recently. I'm not sure whether they'll resume providing it any time. If anyone has any old Alpari data from their web site then please share it.

Re: Megadroid Pro

Hmmm.. I like not this version because really asking too much resources...

Fortunately computer hardware and memory are cheap these days.

Time for an upgrade.

BTW, I am running Windows 7 64-bit with 8GB of RAM... no problems at all. Metatrader 4 works fine. :)

According to other's Megadroid pro works on Linux as well -- if you have a dedicated machine you could get it to run via WINE... although just how stable this is, I don't know.

Re: Megadroid Pro

.

Just a friendly reminder to everyone:

Please DO NOT use the simple "ee" version, since that one uses the EURUSD logic for ALL pairs! That is NOT good!

You can use the "ee2" version if you will trade the default 4 pairs only.

Or you can use the "ee2x" version if you want to try more than 4 pairs or pairs with the same logic used.

(But the best idea to wait for a bugfree version before place it onto live accounts...)

Re: Megadroid Pro

No, "ee2" will not go for more than 4 pairs without crashes. And that 4 pairs are needed to use 4 different logics.

Maybe if you would open (install) a new copy of MetaTrader? But that is also brings up resource problems, as I guess.

tnx Don for your kind advise and much appreciated for hard efforts...

but really I'm using your last version ee2x without any crashes on 6 pairs : EU,EC,EG,GU,UC,UJ maybe i'm lucky or what?! :?:

Re: Megadroid Pro

I also didn't have any crashes after I started to test the multi instance idea. Before that it crashed badly with EURGBP logic, and a few times with EURCHF logic. I'm on Alpari UK, as well.

Oh, and I have Vista with 4GB (3GB) of RAM.

I would think that "things are coming together" at people who got crashes: Alpari UK, little RAM, mistakenly re-using a logic within the same instance etc. But it's just a guess. :)

Re: Megadroid Pro

Hi again hyperdimension,

Does your office subscribe to other vendors like Olsen or Tenfore? They're considered to be top quality (but very expensive).

Oanda's tick data is also considered to be good quality, and it's free if you have a live funded account with them. I made a request for it here: http://indo-investasi.com/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=4425

No my office doesn't subscribe to Olsen or Tenfore, we are a big subscribers of Bloomberg, I know my office paid tons of money to subscribe Bloomberg and extra fees for the ability of pulling data from their servers.

That's why I was thinking of "making use of" it.

In the future I am planning to open an account with Oanda, the thing that ticks me off is that they charge you money for using their API features, I am planning to write an automated trading program using their API, I haven't decided whether I would go with OANDA or Interactive Brokers.

A lot of people are underestimating the accuracy of data, and many people think that with 90% modelling quality data from MT is enough for backtesting, well, that's why they are surprised to see why in live trading the results are A LOT OF TIMES giving bad results.

So if anybody has a good source of data (EURGBP, EURUSD, EURCHF, CHFUSD) please upload it on 4shared or rapidshare, so we can use it for strategy tester.

Anybody who are interested in finding out how to backtest with 99% data quality please read the attachment.

(Rename Backtest 99pct.mq4 into Backtest 99pct.zip, then unzip the file to read the word document, this is because file with zip extension is not allowed as an attachment).

Thanks,

Taufik
