Re: FX Point and Figure trading (including working indicators)

Hello to all,

Does anyone happen to know how to get the Price Channel Working in the P&F setup?

Is it a script or something? Or how do i set it up?

Looking forward to trading it... FXKnight, are u sure that the alerts work?

For some of us, i think it will need some time for us to mentally absorb all 16 or 18 ( can't remember ) setups.. haha

If it is a chart indicator the Price Channel will not work on the adv P&F but it might work with the regular P&F indicator. I am sure the alerts work. You can look at the code of the P&F indicators - the alerts are there. Do not rely on them though. You need to know when to enter/exit, change stops, change TP etc. on your own.

Regards

fxnight,

Do you know how the timeframe affects these P&F charts? I went through the manual and found no answer, but they do look different if you switch timeframes with the same block size.

Also when you enter, are you using market or limit orders?

Thanks.

Re: FX Point and Figure trading (including working indicators)

As the market started, it got very slow :( I have a Pentium D CPU 2.8 GHz with 2 GB RAM.

I hide the grid and reduced the number of the displayed bars (not sure if it helps) and it was acceptable on M30, almost unusable on M15 and totally unusable on M5.

Thanks for sharing but I tried this system and take care because the signals repaint, so when the trading system shows you a breakout of some resistence or support, if the price go against you, the signal disappears.

Not very trustworthy system for me

as long as signals dont repaint previous bars im comfortable with that. as the price moves on the current bar it is reasonable to expect the current bar's indicators to move about.

Re: FX Point and Figure trading (including working indicators)

I had the same problem, freezing computer.

I found a solution which worked for me. Maybe it will work for others.

I opened a 5M barchart of EUR/USD and attached the PF_PAC indicator.

This opened a new chart beneath the barchart.

You can them make the barchart portion as small as you can.

If you watch the video, he shows you how to trade using PAC indicator. You do not get the support and resistance line with this method.

Hope this is helpful to people having problem using the template and indicators

I had the same problem, freezing computer.

The problem arises from the data stored in history center: more data, more time...

Try it on a pair with small data stored, and it will do its work in a more reasonable time.

Re: FX Point and Figure trading (including working indicators)

go to

tools -> options -> chart

lower the amount of bars in history + in chart.

that will reduce processing use (as the indicator calculates everything on the chart).

That's what I did. I set both to 100 and still freezed.

I will try it with a fresh MT4 install.

Re: FX Point and Figure trading (including working indicators)

mt4 doesnt use duel/quad processors - it sits on one processor permanently.

heavy indicators might stress out one half of your system, especially if other apps are using the same core it is.

maybe some IT wiss can help out.

Re: FX Point and Figure trading (including working indicators)

I managed to solve the freezing problem :D I installed a new Metatrader4 client (in my case FXOpen but should work with other brokers too). As I already have one instance, I changed the name of the default installation folder from ''MetaTrader - FXOpen' to 'MetaTrader - FXOpen 2'. After the installation and the update process completed, I copied the indicators and the templates to its place, started terminal.exe and WOW the Point and Figures system is working seamlessly with 2 pairs on M5 timeframes. No need to reduce the number of displayed bars etc. just a fresh new install. I hope it helps the other forum members who had the same problem.

Now the only remaining question is whether this system is profitable or not :)
