Hi there,

I'm trying Ubuntu 8.10. Got the CD from ubuntu website.

However, I can't play any mp3, dvd, vcd, etc.

I can't download via linux as I don't have internet connection on that PC.

I've been searching via Google like crazy only to be able to fix the mp3. So I still can't play any VCD or DVD.

Any help? Where should I download the stuff?

Re: [help] playing DVD with Ubuntu

you can use vlc player

Yes, i've read it before somewhere else. However, since I don't have internet on linux, I have to download from the repository one file at a time. Very unhuman :D

Thanks anyway.

I find "GOM Media Player" very useful. It's quite versatile

Thanks for the info, i'll try it.

BTW. http://www.getdeb.net/ is very useful for installing ubuntu softwares.
