  1. I decided to write Rick right after my last post so I wouldn't forget and here it is 4 days later and no response. I'm afraid it's a lost cause. The email did go through and wasn't returned so will keep checking but doubt anything will come of it. A shame.
  2. I couldn't agree more. It had so many advanced capabilities and at a bargain basement price. It's pattern matching routine alone was remarkable. He's a funny guy, very intelligent but on the quirky side. If I think of it I'll try writing him again later this week and let you know if I get any kind of response.
  3. I wrote to Rick a couple of times, the last being about 3 years ago, asking him if there were any plans to release a new version of XL_Trader. He replied that it was possible but he really wasn't sure. At this point I wouldn't hold out much hope.
  4. Got it. which 'modern' gann software would you recommend to use and learn? thanks!

Wave59 also comes to mind. However you might also want to try Gannanalyst Professional 5.0. It used to be a paid program but when the author stopped development he gave it away free. Just do a search and you will find it. As I recall it was actually pretty good for that type of work.

  5. [yes, I'm also thinking about buying it from Johnsnow, I just haven't been able to decide whether to buy, Updata or optuma.]

I'm definitely in the same boat. Optuma has been around for a while and has a solid reputation. The downside has always been the price but Jton Snow changes the equation quite a bit. Updata is new to me but pleased with what I have seen so far. Right now I'm leaning towards Optuma but may trial Updata after the holidays and make a final decision then.

  6. I have been trying to get this to run on Win10 for a couple of days now with no luck. I keep getting "class not registered" and "access violation at address" error messages. I believe these are related to Win 10 but really not sure. In any case I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to resolve this issue. Thanks.
  7. You are really going back with Nava Patterns ... I use to own it ... and used correctly it made some great forecasts. It also gave a wealth of statistics which were also very helpful. There was a program out there called XL_Trader that could make predictions from patterns that was also very good but it had a small customer base and the owner didn't keep up with it. It's to bad to because it was a great program and could do a lot of different things. I believe the website is still up. Other then that the only thing I can think of is Wave 59. It's been a long time since I used it but I believe it had some capacity to look for patterns either using a simple tool which would give okay results and by writing your own code.
  8. Hey strat57, the link does not work. Did you actually try downloading the file? It works up to the point where it asks you for the code, and after you put it in - then it says file no longer available.

    WCICOM,

You are right buddy, I didn't follow it through because I didn't need the program. I should have know better just by looking at the link. In any case SignalTime has it right. My apologies for any confusion I may have caused anyone.

  9. Hi Sixer,

I haven't really done anything with it yet other then create a chart with old MetaStock data I had on the PC. Next step will be to figure out a easy way to convert data into MS form (it seems to want both dat. and dop. files) and then port everything over to the virtual drive. Once I figure everything out and come up with something that I think could be beneficial to the community I'll be glad to share it so all can use.

  10. fxus,

Thank you very much for your help. I followed your instructions and it turns out there is no conflict at all. I simply don't have the OFA bartype file. I double checked by looking in bin/custom/type (probably should have done this first) and it's not there. So if anyone could post the file it sure would be appreciated.

By the way I also located an indicator that not only gives a popup window indicating what slots are being used and by what, but also gives the user what slots are available information. It can be found here: https://www.sharkindicators.com/wp-content/plugins/download-monitor/download.php?id=287 Finally the instructions for resolving conflict can be found here: http://indicatorsmart.com/changing-a-bar-slot-assignment-on-a-shark-indicator-bar-type/ ... a very simple fix.

    Thanks again, great community!

  11. Hi Guys,

I have a problem that I hope someone can help me with. I had this on my old PC which blew up last month and finally got around to putting it on the new one. No installation issues at all and everything is there with the one big exception of OFA bar type. I have reinstalled many times and still no OFA bars, though do have OFA chart style. If anyone has any ideas how to fix this I would greatly appreciate the advice.

    Thanks
