Now that the resident teacher is no longer pontificating and minitrader's fledgling forum is abandoned, there is a hole here to share knowledge. I'm going to attempt to explain how the box can be used effectively in manual mode even though I use a an automated version, which is not for distribution under any conditions. I will be as forthright as I can and answer questions. Please don't expect me to pack this thread with posts ad nauseum with images that display how good I am while I belittle you for not being successful. Frankly, I think arrogance has no place here and my ego doesn't need to get messaged on a minute by minute basis, like others who's name I won't mention. This thread should be instructive to me and you and perhaps you can share your experiences, if any, on how you improve on my setups.

With respect to the box, there are a few boxlike products I'm aware of in the market. If you do a search, you'll know which one in particular I think has merit. For disclosure purposes, I don't encourage nor advocate using pirated, stolen, or hacked software. Always pay for other's products or use free ones that are open source and in the public domain. ;)

Is anyone interested in trading FDAX?

Here is a serious answer. Although the developer, Rich St@nton isn't on this thread, he couldn't trade these things profitably either. If he could, he certainly wouldn't be wasting his time marketing them for peanuts.

    That's the cold truth.

To the best of my knowledge, there isn't a price based indicator in the public domain that has an edge, no more than looking at yesterday's weather will give you a correct forecast for today.

2 cents. I also tried it, at a first view it's wonderful, but in real account i caught few lost, which strike out all profits. Also in CL.

    Hi gavesto:

    1) How do you decide whether to take a trade after the box paints?

    2) Do you use any indicators to get an idea whether the market bias is Long or Short at that point?

    3) What is your profit target for the first contract?

    4) How much slippage do you get trading CL with market orders?

I'm working with a developer to create a box strategy. The code is a bit unconventional and not easily manipulated to do certain things, like automatically take profits at those colored target lines, but that's not critical.

    More like the $million ? :)

The safe thing is to take every trade until you hit your daily goal or max loss. But if you think the market is in a clear trend, then just take trades in that trend. I think trading ES is probably the safest instrument since it backs and fills. I haven't found any price based indicators as a bias filter. There may be one in bala's bag of tricks, I'll have to take a look.

    Hi
Prediction point: I have tried in the past, 2-3 tick target, 12-20 tick stop. so one or two stops and you will stop using it.
JS: is a server based. so the levels are supplied from the vendor with a log in, but it does look good.
    Good luck

Not recently because they weren't very good running both long and short. If you can determine the daily bias--and set the strat either Long or Short--then results are decent. But you have to allow for large drawdowns.
