  1. I love the GOLD indicator. Its very similar to Sidus but slightly different (still trying to figure out the exact settings for Sidus v3 to get it to match up exactly with GOLD). Using the Symphonie Autorefresh indicator fixed the only problem with gold re: sporadic auto-refresh of the signal arrows. Very profitable indicator when working properly.
  2. Exactly, huuu. Thats really the problem here. Plain and simple. Ive been doing numerous comparison tests over the past few weeks and months and my conclusion is that the risks/losses outweigh the benefits/gains of using aggressive on any pair.

Which broker? I only had one trade on GU which ended in a profit, but I don't trade any with the aggressive on.
  3. xxl, I feel you brother. I have the same experience yesterday. It was a real kick in the balls, pardon the french. I have modified my N1 settings now such that ALL are trading both NFA mode AND non-agressive. I got hit on the same ones as you. According to my testing, however, what wound up being a $350.00 loss for me (:O) could have been as low as a $50.00 total loss instead had I used NFA+non-aggressive for all pairs. So anyone reading this and looking at my settings I posted before -- if your daring and can put up with what happened yesterday, just use as-is, but if you want to be doing what I am doing right now, then wherever you see "true/false" for aggressiveness, make them ALL false for ALL pairs.
  4. These are my current Megadroid Pro N1 (XE 1.2) settings:

Hit the "thank you" button if this is helpful! ;)

(P.S. Please note that, for the JPY pairs (USDJPY and EURJPY) listed above, I *ALSO* have, in *ADDITION* to the settings shown above, the Medium Impact news enabled and set to 600/600 for those pairs.)

  5. Everything looks correct to me. Thats how I have mine set.

Taking the below pair for example, can you check whether this is the correct way for my set file settings.

  6. Sorry for the delay. I've been running N1 live for awhile now, like since mid June. It works well. Something I noticed is that even when we had the big drawdown last week due to JPY GBPUSD and CAD related pairs, safe-settings megadroid pro N1 was largely unaffected.

daddy -- no, I don't use different risk but I have been considering it. For my account size ($1500) I use 2 mini lots. One strategy might be to use 1 mini lot on EURJPY, USDJPY, and GBPCHF while using 2 mini lots for all others (or similar proportion relevant to your account size -- 50% for those 3 pairs).

That's okay my friend :) Thanks for all the useful info. Do you mind if I ask how long you've been live with N1 for now?

Yes, I ran Theozaki's TFs for only a week before switching to the suicide approach for some reason :P Daddypancakes is running a great fxbook page tracking accounts with all different approaches, so I might switch back to the safe method and just watch the dangerous ones from a distance.

Funnily enough, in that week I only got 5 trades, (all good ones) 4 of which were EURJPY!

If I have one criticism of MD N1, its that it uses up a lot of resources on the VPS (when running all ten charts) for a relatively small amount of trades. If I go live at some point I'll definately have to upgrade the server memory or I'll end up crashing the platform.

  7. Well, what I do understand is that 4XPROJECT often has new robots in 1st-3rd places that, within a few weeks or months, wind up discontinued for blowing an account. Hippo is relatively new. Similarly, for example, only recently Overdrive and Reservoir Pips were both near the top of the forward tests on independent sites, and after a few major stoploss hits last week have taken STEEP plunges. I remain curious as to whether this EA is viable with a 100 pip (or other tested) stoploss.

Pessimists always try to put things what they don't understand down, don't you know it?

FX Hippo is on second place in live trading on 4xproject what is robots main testing Web Site (Switzerland, owner Zeno). Probably wrong settings when no results?

I did put it on demo this weekend, we will see, blind said.

  8. Thanks so much for the clarification Scott (and the kind words)! I didn't realize that the difference was that you/others were having this multi-SL experience with 24/7 trading vs. theozaki's timeframes. Gotcha now.

BTW -- I agree with rex, eurjpy is nearly a lost cause. Im giving this a last shot with medium 600/600 set as well to see if that helps.

    Thanks Noziggity,

Yes, I'm totally familiar with the correct (and safe) trading method for this EA and I totally agree. I think those of us that were commenting on the recent losses weren't in any way surprised about them, we were just testing out a ridiculously aggressive 24 hour strategy on all 10 pairs which was never really likely to succeed.

Thanks again for all your contribution to this thread. I read the whole thing with interest over about 2 hours while I should have been working.

  9. I was part of the original bunch to test and use the N1 version of this robot. I had about 8 trades today on MD and only 1 hit SL (Live, GO Markets, it was EURJPY which I forgot to turn on the medium filter for -- see my rec's below), so I can't say that the losses some are experiencing are universal. Had I had medium on for the JPY pairs, I would have had no losses at all today. I've since remedied that mistake. ;)

This robot is the safest and most effective. If you take time to read back through this thread you will see guidelines for setting up the N1 news filtering in a manner that is different from default and results in safer trading/better results.

I mean: how many of you are setting it to 600 mins before and 600 mins after, rather than just leaving it at the default? The default that dinj set I think was 300/300 or something like that, and to use those low defaults would increase your likelihood of poor results.

To summarize, the steps you can take to improve your results with N1 are:

(1.) 600/600 - High Impact News for all pairs (*EXCEPT* trade JPY pairs with *BOTH* high and medium impact as 600/600)

(2.) Trade Aggressive for all pairs *EXCEPT*: EURJPY, USDJPY, EURCHF and GBPCHF

(3.) Use the trading times specified earlier in this thread (per theozaki's guidelines)

If you follow those guidelines I am confident that you will not experience significant losses unless your broker is playing games. (Good brokers include Go Markets, FxCBS, Gallant FX, IamFX, and Alpari UK).

Yep, my first day of testing was a bad one :P No particularly damaging news was scheduled, can't really explain why it happened except that its probably a dangerous strategy.

Weird that the non-news version is holding up okay....

Its all going to get killed in about 6 hours though ;)

  10. I second that, in terms of my results thus far. Those two pairs (and also eurjpy) are troublesome. But my profit has been larger than 2.75% for the month.

I spend all my forex time studying daily manual trading these days but I have a few EAs running which I check once a month. I started this at the end of June aggressive FALSE all pairs 5%. It made 2.75% for July with a 4.14% DD. GBPCHF and USDJPY were the only pairs that ended in the red. Will update end of August or you can check myfxbook stats same username. Best of trading to everyone.
  11. Nick --

Thank you for your input. This is a good conversation and important to have. You are right, I haven't been using the robot for a long time. It is possible you have experience with the "swap issue" that I have yet to see. Were you trading just audnzd, or both eurchf and audnzd? What was your swap drawdown on just the audnzd pair like?

Alot of people got burned, both swap and regular drawdown, on eurchf because that wasn't a good longterm pair to trade with the robot, it turned out. So I am only concerned with how audnzd performed. Your feedback would be much appreciated.

Wait until you use it more than a year... I had trades with swap costs over 50 USD while the take profit is only 1.xx.

I used even less risk than you. Of course it makes profit. but your floating loss will be higher than your profit.

But I do not force you stop using it. I just don't want you to loss your money just as I did with the robot...

  12. That is a tired argument, with all due respect, Pheniox. I understand your jaded by these robots, and it is true that the Shocker/Megadroid/EAKAIN/Multivers variations have come, to varying degree, from the DragonPips product... BUT: they are all significant improvements. At least Multivers is. DragonPips is an old and out-dated product that would not produce the same results as Multivers. I use multivers successfully, and many forward and backtests posted around show different performance results from DragonPips vs. Multivers (and far superior for the latter).

Just another copy of DragonPIps which is available on thsi forum
  13. mcreek, you should PM stormin_normin, hitescape, halcyonn, birt, dinj, or rio and send them your copy of v3, confidentially of course, so that they can educate it for you and post it for all of us to use. It won't effect your license. Im sure I speak for everyone in saying we would all appreciate you doing that. :)

I bought v3 yesterday. And apply it to EURUSD,GBPUSD,USDCHF and USDCAD each 1lot.

I got $300 and will buy second license.

    very gooooooooooooood!!

  14. huu, without making this too complicated -- the expert advisor is designed to determine, on its own, without permitting you to intervene, as to the buy/sell direction of its trades based on its grid stategy. The entire range of the past 5 years (60 months) is looked back and divided by 2 -- the midpoint of that range and above trigger only long trades. The midpoint and below trigger only short trades. The label you are seeing is simply telling you that the robot's internal logic is only making short trades and is not making long trades. Once audnzd's price goes back above the midpoint I referenced earlier, the EA will automatically switch on its own to only longs and no shorts. Its part of the strategy, and should not be messed with.

They do sell because you are in the above range...

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    h

Well my question had to do with the label on the chart which appears to say that short trades are true and long trades are false. I want to know if there is any way of making both true or making only long trades true.
