I first came across this book which I found very helpful some 25 years ago when Gary Smith (who stood out by being a verifiably profitable trader and author of a book offering trading advice) recommended it.

Can anyone recommend a reliable independent resource that rates/reviews brokers?

Not sure when TOS first became available outside the US through Charles Schwab but have just noticed I can get it here in the UK that way

By the way I recollect most of these authors as having done a lot of work with stocks, indeces and futures. Do these methods perform exactly the same on forex?

I shall certainly start looking in the directions suggested.

 

From a purely intellectual standpoint (and I appreciate this could distract me from my main objective) which author best goes into the detail of addressing the issue of proper scaling.

I am a price action trader interested in broadening my tool set to include the use of geometrical analysis (particularly for setting targets).

 

I would be grateful for any recommendations of works/authors that cover the basics sufficiently clearly to overcome my existing limiting misconceptions such as : how can e.g. price = time when the time axis depends on say the scaling provided by any particular charting package?

 

I am prepared to put in the study but would be grateful for guidance on which path to follow.

Thank you for your comprehensive reply - it has certainly given me plenty more to think about.

I would certainly be interested to hear of others opinions and agree it would be worthy of a new thread.

Since my experience (which is non forex and largely based on trading e-minis and stocks) is somewhat off topic I shall limit my comments here to mentioning two traders I believe to be totally genuine and whose books I have found helpful; Gary Smith and Al Brooks.

I read your comments with interest. One of the issues that the great diversity of information available here raises is knowing how to optimise use of time and deciding what to concentrate on. I would be interested to hear who you feel falls within that category of 5 or less trader/educators who are honest and profitable.

I would also be grateful if someone could please repost the WVA

I have no recent experience but recall attending a number of trading sites 3 or 4 years ago where YM, EUR, ZB and ZN were also actively traded.
