Technical Analysis for Beginners

I'm not sure where is the best to start posting/asking about technical analysis. I was thinking to post at the "Technical Analysis ", but then I thought, that It would be best to post here.

So first things first,

What are the basic of Technical Analysis? What do I need to know.

Re: Technical Analysis for Beginners

Just my 2 cents view, I am also a beginner. I am reading books on technical analysis. If not I cannot understand the seniors discussion. Maybe thats a way to start.

- Moving Averages

- RSI

- Fibo

- How to calculate pivot, R1, S1

Re: Technical Analysis for Beginners

Price first

all of the technique indicator is formed from price.

when the trend is bullish, price will go higher and higher

in another hand,

when the trend is bearish, price will go lower and lower

do not have a short position at bullish trend,

the same

do not have a long position at bearish trend.

Re: Technical Analysis for Beginners

Hi

I have just come into this great Forum which seems to have a lot of information

I read many times that some senior traders advice begginers to try a long time "in paper", before trading with "real money".

If any of you is now trading with real money, could you let me me know how long took you to leave "paper trading" ?

I know it depends on each people, but just to have a rough idea

Sorry about my english (my native language is spanish)

Thanks !!

Re: Technical Analysis for Beginners

i would recommend starting off by learning how to identify trends, eg

an uptrend would have higher highs and higher lows

a down trend would have lower highs and lower lows

Then go onto trendlines, Support and resistance, etc

Re: Technical Analysis for Beginners

what is the best time frame for trading?

The one that makes you comfortable ... for me that is H4... but for some that is to slow so they like M15 or M5... you need to pick what is best for you :-bd
